Original Fiction (plus NaNoWriMo excerpts)

Nov 20, 2009 01:34

So anyway, time for some shameless pimping. You guys know how I have my fanfiction journal (thiswaytoheaven) and my TamaHaru fanfiction journal (sugarysky) and my porny writing journal (chocolatelle)? Well, it came to my attention recently that I didn't have a journal for posting my original fiction. I used to post them here, but things got cluttered that way. So, if you guys are interested in reading my original fiction, my account for that is deadgirlsloveme, alright? :'D Woo!

So... I said I was going to upload some excerpts from my NaNo novel, and I didn't get around to it before because it sucks trying to pick non-spoilery parts that are also not boring XDDDDDD But here you go, have an excerpt (FYI, she was playing hide-and-seek):

“Where to hide?” Alexander asked aloud as she walked, and she whooped at the sight of a clump of bushes on the other side of the small wooden fence that bordered the road. It looked like crouching behind them would provide excellent cover. Quickly she slipped over the fence and darted into the bushes, picking her way around them to the secluded area. She realized now that they were tall enough to stand behind, so she would not have to bother with crouching. She also realized, however, that she was not alone behind the bushes. The boy who stood in their cover was not much taller than she was, and could not have been much older. His hair was yellow and his eyes were blue, and his clothing was the strangest she had ever seen. He wore bright silk trousers and a violently red silk shirt tied with a calico scarf. The intense focus of his eyes was on a stick that hovered before him. His hands were raised, and he was muttering what sounded like gibberish under his breath.

“Amazing!” Alexander gasped, eyes bulging as she stared at the stick floating in midair. At the sound of her voice, the boy shouted and jumped into the air, and the stick dropped back to the ground with a thud.

“Thanks,” he muttered sarcastically with a sigh, rolling up his flowing sleeves. “You made me lose my concentration.” he seemed irritated but a little pleased that she was impressed, and he fixed her with his stare now as though he was trying to figure out what made her tick.

“I’ve never seen anything like that before!” Alexander exclaimed, clapping her hands, giddy with excitement. “Are you a wizard?”

The boy’s entire air changed at this; his eyes lit up, and his cheeks grew rosy as he swelled with what looked like pride. “I will be,” he answered. “As soon as I learn everything I need to know. I’m going to be an apprentice to a great wizard, Kazali. Maybe you’ve heard of him?”

Alexander shook her head. “I don’t know much of wizards,” she confessed with a small shrug. “But even from his name he sounds like he must be amazing.”

“He is,” the boy assured her with a nod. He stared at her for a long moment, and then he smiled. More smirked, really, but Alexander didn’t want to notice. “Why are you dressed like a boy?”

It felt as though cold liquid rushed into Alexander’s stomach at his words, and she swallowed heavily, trying to retain her bearings. “Because I am a boy,” she replied as coolly as she could, smiling at him in a slightly amused way. She wasn’t sure if it would help, but she couldn’t help hoping. “I am Prince Alexander.”

The boy looked on the verge of laughing at her, and he had his arms crossed. The smile on his face made it quite clear that he didn’t buy a word of it. “No you’re not. You‘re a girl,” he said, and at this, Alexander could feel herself growing angry. Not at his accusations, but at the fact that he had figured this out after moments of knowing her.

“Yes I am,” she hissed. “And you would do well to remember your place when speaking to a member of the royal family!” she never liked to rub her lineage in other people’s faces, but shutting him up was the main priority in this situation, and all else took a backseat to it.

“Oh, excuse me, your highness,” the boy’s voice took on a mocking tone, and he bowed so low the ends of his sleeves trailed in the dirt. “I suppose I forgot myself for a moment. How dare I speak ill of a member of the precious monarchy!? I should be burned alive for such an act of heresy!”

As he spoke, Alexander’s anger had risen farther with each word, and now her blood was boiling. She could feel her temper flaring up and blocking out common sense. “Listen here, you!” she said, stepping forward and jabbing a finger into his thin chest. “You are being extremely rude! It doesn’t matter whether I’m a member of the royal family or not; you shouldn’t talk to anyone that way! So now you need to apologize for what you said and we can forget this.”

“And what if I don’t?” the boy seemed unimpressed, almost as though he was suppressing a yawn. “Are you going to be beat me up, little girl?”

At this, Alexander charged forward and shoved him as hard as her small arms would allow. He seemed taken aback for a moment, and stumbled. “Shut up!” Alexander shouted in his face, her cheeks heating up with rage. “I can’t stand people like you! You are an insolent fool and I hope I never see your face again as long as I live!” with that she turned and flounced out of the patch of bushes and back into the road.

“Farewell then, Prince Alexander,” the boy called. He sounded amused again, and Alexander stomped away down the road, kicking up puffs of dust. By the time she reached the castle courtyard, she was still seething, and she took a seat on the stone bench beneath the cherry tree and pouted fully for several minutes before the color the red began to drain away from her vision.

“Alexander!” she heard Thomas’ voice call just when she was about to get up and find a fresh hiding place. “That is possibly the worst hiding place I’ve ever seen!”

Anger forgotten, Alexander laughed, jumping out of the way as Thomas tried to tag her. She darted about in the bright sunshine and did her best to forget about the impertinent boy behind the bushes and his levitating stick.

I <3 the blonde kid XDDD I also <3 writing about crossdressing. I've only written about male trannies before, so this is an interesting experience. This is one of those stories where you should never feel safe assuming someone's gender XD I'm sure a few of the guys have vaginas. Also, Alexander is my favorite heroine I've written so far, probably because of her weird fascination for bugs as well as her casual acceptance of her crazy situation.

In other news, I wrote a new TamaHaru fic :'D *gets shot for not working on novel*

I have tomorrow, as well as this weekend, off of work. I'm so happy! My endless reservoir of irritatingly explosive energy was actually starting to dwindle, which almost never happens. I have three days to refuel. Plus, as tradition dictates, on Saturday suddenkiss, kiramekineko (my little sister), and I are dressing up in formal gowns and going to Chuck E. Cheese's <3 I can't wait! Good lord, I just love my life so much XD

Also, I totally have 3 separate Haruhi cosplays all ready to do (normal uniform, outfit from when they went to the expo, and the dress from episode 26), so expect pics sometime soon *nerd*

Love love love, guys! *flies off*
