As people know my thoughts on use of the word friend are very strict and I dont use it easily

I have done the long post about whys and wherefores of the use and how I feel the net has allowed this word this precious and amazing word to be misused and abused and how sad it is, I found these when looking for some stuff and thought yes - these say much of what I think and so I pass them on to certain people .............

A Friend's Prayer
© Jill Wolf, sent by Wendy Hinson

May my friendships always be
The most important thing to me;
With special friends I feel I'm blessed,
So let me give my very best.
I want to do much more than share
The hopes and plans of friends who care;
I'll try all that a friend can do
To make their secret dreams come true.
Let me use my heart to see,
To realise what friends can be,
And make no judgements from afar,
But love my friends the way they are.

A FRIEND
© Breena C. Park

A friend is like a flower,
a rose to be exact,
Or maybe like a brand new gate
that never comes unlatched.
A friend is like an owl,
both beautiful and wise.
Or perhaps a friend is like a ghost,
whose spirit never dies.
A friend is like those blades of grass
you can never mow,
standing straight, tall, and proud
in a perfect little row.
A friend is like a heart that goes
strong until the end.
Where would we be in this world
if we didn't have a friend.

If I Could Catch a Rainbow
© Sandra Lewis Pringle, sent by Wendy Hinson
From Sandra's book Sing Loudly as Lions Roar.

If I could catch a rainbow, I would do it, just for you,
And, share with you, its beauty, on the days you're feeling blue.

If I could, I would build a mountain, you could call your very own.
A place to find serenity, a place just to be alone.

If I could, I would take your troubles, and toss them into the sea.
But, all these things, I'm finding, are impossible for me.

I cannot build a mountain, or catch a rainbow fair;
but, let me be, what I know best,
A Friend, who's always there.

I promise to defend you, should the occasion ever rise,
And, I promise to wipe away the tears,
which might stream from your weeping eyes.

Let me be the trusted Friend, the one that you know best.
I will never leave you, on that, you can surely rest.
what an amazing weekend what incredibly generous and kind friends and why the chuff didnt I book the rest of next week off ha ha !

with love and hopes that people have had a weekend that has even been 1% as amazing as mine because even that much will have made it a memorable one!
