Saturday catch-up...

Meg!life continues apace. Yesterday, the only respectable thing I did was go to campus to help my group prepare for the mini-panel on documentary film that the film'n'music seminar is hosting on Thursday. Other than that, I lounged around and watched True Blood (Em-chan, Jen, I'm not sure if I should kiss you or kill you...I never thought I'd say this, but...maybe I should watch more western television...huzzah for Chinese internets).

HM!S and HM!N had their friends over again, and Friend!E popped upstairs to say hello and play with the Swiffer. When she discovered I was watching True Blood, she expressed delight in discovering the other sci fi and fantasy things in my room. "Oh! You have a dragon, too!" I loved the 'too,' anybody who perches a stuffed dragon anywhere in their room gets my vote of awesome. Anyway, we talked about magic and ghosts and religion and morality and ocd tendencies. Then we went downstairs to be sociable and there were games of Halo and Soul Caliber II and chess and team Scrabble (in which Team Us - unofficially team Voldemort - almost managed to spell both Voltron and Voltaire and would have gladly welcomed the lost points for the sheer glee of it but managed to win by going out first; Team Lame consistently lobbied for Latin and Gaelic words and lead most of the game pointswise; Team AssHat sallied forth with 'AHOY' and were entirely dysfunctional but had excellent head gear to counteract their indecisiveness; Team ??? were hardly ever at the table at the same time and added 'YARR' to the mix and mixed a foul interesting new cocktail called a Green Lantern that involved dark rum, tonic water, lime juice, blue cointreau, and an olive, and was a fascinating split of orange and green by the time it was done). The funny thing is, from these descriptions it's entirely impossible to tell which team I was most suited for!!

Yesterday afternoon, though, I did speak with a number of people on the phone. Maui called! She was finally getting around to returning the Happy Birthday calls from September, because she had visitors all that week, subsequently got the Death Plague, and is in her second year of medical school. We got each other caught up on our lives and she double-checked that she had my parents' home phone number down before I left for my meeting. She called my house and spoke with my mother. There...are no words for how adorable and wonderful she is. My mother, of course, called me. I had to call her back while walking across campus. Then Em-chan called! Nobody ever calls me, and this took place in the span of three hours.

Incidentally, I'm meeting with Em-chan later this afternoon for coffee. Er...more coffee, in my case. Although maybe I'll go for something chocolatey instead...? I might go do some retail therapy afterward, but I'm not sure it'll count as such because it's necessary and not a choice. One of my pairs of jeans ripped unfortunately yesterday and needs to be replaced. I hate shopping on weekends, though, everything is so crowded! Ah, well. Coffee with Em-chan!! <3!!!

I think I'm going to be mostly MIA for the next week. I have a lot to get caught up on before Thanksgiving, including a presentation draft that I haven't started yet and a research book to read. I love you all, though!
