Halloween manicure: tangerine basecoat, black tips, glow-in-the-dark topcoat. Not tremendously elegant, but quite a bit of fun. :D

Happy New Year, everybody!! And Happy Birthday to those to whom it applies. :)
Definitely not sold on the bangs. Those will be growing out, I think. Mostly because they're annoying, but also because I'm remembering that I'm not Asian and I have very fine hair, so when it's short it goes poofy and wavy because of my cowlicks, instead of sitting straight and looking edgy and stylish. If I could be bothered to blow dry my hair into place...but no. All in all, not one of my favorite haircuts, but not one of the worst, either.
Woo, loud fiddles. Let's keep the ethnicity of this day alive~!

I'm forgoing any of my usual Halloween habits, like pulling out a set of Cards, in light of my continuing emotional instability. Maybe next year I'll be properly medicated. :) I've seen enough to know that it's better to not muck about with that sort of thing when my mind is so scattered. [[I mean, come on, people, I grew up in a haunted house, I don't just believe in ghosts and spirits, I know they exist.]] I do think I'll treat myself to a trashy novel about demon-hunting, though. Awesome!
My mother had surgery today to remove some enlarged lymph nodes from under one arm. They were tested and biopsied last year and it didn't look like anything had changed, the doctors don't expect to find that the breast cancer has returned or anything, and the swelling was just caused by pathways blocked with scar tissue or something. Last I heard, Mom was drugged to the gills and Dad was getting a prescription filled for her. I'll call her tomorrow and bemoan the fact that she didn't pick up the phone this morning when I tried to call her.
Speaking of speaking to people in the morning, zukkii is discovering how mind bogglingly little I know about Texas. Things I discovered today include:
-Texas is not, in fact, one giant desert
-the eastern side of Texas is ungodly humid
-the eastern side of Texas is on Eastern Standard Time (I'd always thought it was entirely Central!)
She is singlehandedly revising my view of the entire state. She's got quite a road ahead of her, I'm sure!!
I totally fell asleep in the middle of a conversation with trivialaffair last night. Sorry, babe. I was awake for...what...ten minutes after you got online? I fail at msn, especially because this is not the first time it's happened!
Does anyone else get cranky when they don't drink enough water?
