Chillin' on a Sunday morning.

Aug 06, 2006 09:48

My first words, when I checked the time, were "I dun wanna be awake nooooooooow!" It was 8:07. I have since finished cleaning the bathroom and beat the bath mat out again (D uses bath powder).

You see, I tried a little experiment. I didn't clean anything for a month.

Neither did anyone else.

By last night, I was alone in the apartment and just looking at the shower made my skin crawl. I hunkered down and got to business with the Comet and by the time I had finished, my legs were caked in bath powder. So I attempted to sweep the bathroom out, because I was tired of leaving white footprints on the living room carpet. Let us simply say that that was a massive failure. I did get most of the superficial whiteness out of the bathroom but the grout - which was dark gray - is still buried. I do need to finish up with some windex on the mirror and a quick Swiffering of the shelves but the important aspects are CLEAN.

And, since D is visiting her family and J is living in her boyfriend's air conditioning and studying for the MCATs, I am still alone in the apartment and have the opportunity to enjoy the solitude and CLEANLINESS.

On the docket for today: vacuuming the now whitened carpet of the living room, straightening up the kitchen, and recovering the floor space of my bedroom (which is in much better shape now than it was in during the heat wave last week, because the thought of picking anything up was enough to make me faint).

Also, watching The First Wives Club again (despite the lack of apostrophe in the title).

Speaking of which, I really need to stop going into "used media" stores. At this time last summer, I had five DVDs to my name.

Ave Ventura: When Nature Calls
Bandits
Bend it Like Beckham (one of my original five)
Best In Show (number six - a birthday gift last summer)
Big Fish
Bride and Prejudice (number seven - a birthday gift last summer)
Bruce Almighty
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
The Emperor's New Groove
Evolution
Finding Nemo
The First Wives Club
Hitch
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
The Incredibles
Jersey Girl (I'm glad I didn't pay full price for this...no more buying movies I haven't seen)
Lilo & Stitch
Lost In Translation
Love Actually (*melts in happy goo*)
Monsters, Inc.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings (Special Edition! Pretty men and pretty green box! One of my original five.)
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Special edition! Pretty brown box!! One of my original five.)
NOTE THE BIG EMPTY SPACE HERE THAT IS RESERVED FOR THE RETURN OF THE KING (SPECIAL EDITION) WHICH I DO NO YET HAVE. Moment of silence, please.

The Matrix
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
The Muppet Show: Season One (I want them all!)
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Ocean's Eleven (yes, it's the remake)
Patch Adams
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
The Princess Bride
The Royal Tenenbaums (technically, this one isn't really mine - I inherited it from Ace's first roommate, Sun, when she went back to Korea, so I kind of count this one as #5.5)
Shrek
Shrek 2
Surf Ninjas (one of my original five and my favorite bad-day go-to movie)
Young Frankenstein (the final of my original five)

If you can't tell, I'm a comedy girl.

Off to watch women beat their men into the ground and cackle. Hm. I should make some coffee in there somewhere...

megbabble, about 'byrd, life in general
