River pondered the question of how that space shuttle had managed to take her all the way back to Earth as well as back in time. She couldn't figure it out, and that annoyed her. Then again, she should be getting used to Fandom by now. Perhaps visiting Serenity had brought her back to a mindset expecting the universe to be logical.

River lay stretched out on her back, looking up to the sky. She could hear the sea and smell it too. Up in the sky, far away - and in the future, she reminded herself - were all the places she had used to call home. Now Fandom was a home too and that felt good.
