Random tree - Saturday morning

May 27, 2006 20:51

Trees weren't that comfortable. River blinked and turned around, curling up against the tree trunk. The bad thing about falling asleep out of doors was that you didn't feel rested when you woke up. Especially not with a tree root under your back. It had been a really stupid idea.

She sat up and yawned.

River yawned again and stretched. "Hi," she said. "You want breakfast?"

((ooc: oops, missed that! *goes to look*))

River stood up and brushed the dust off her dress. "Let's go and find some food then."

((ooc: bedtime for me here, I'll reply tomorrow morning))

"We haven't talked before," River said, "so I don't know anything about you."

They walked towards the buildings, and through the walking the stiffness from falling asleep on a tree root began to wear off.

"Same here." tim said. "I'm Tim, like I said yesterday in Dadaism. though apparently I look like someone Artie used to know named Pete. I'm from New York, 1991."

She recognised that from her history studies of Earth-that-was and nodded. "I'm River. Used to live on a spaceship called Serenity in 2517. From Osiris originally." She smiled.

"Wow," Tim said, a bit awed and impressed. "And here I'd been thinking that 2006 was the future. What's the world like then?" he asked.

"We're not living on Earth anymore. It got too crowded. So now - in 2517 - we live in another solar system, with quite a few inhabitable planets and moons." She smiled. "What's New York in 1991 like?" The history books hadn't been that detailed.

"Well," he said, impressed with the whole living on other planets thing. "It's exciting. There's theaters, museums, crime...it's noisy, fairly often dirty, and if you don't know where not to go, dangerous. But I know where not to go so I manage to avoid most danger. Manhattan Island is a great place to go for fun, that's where a lot of the theaters and museums are. I live in one of the outlying neiborhoods."

mun apologizes to anyone who lives in New York and feels they can give a better description, I've only been there once

River nodded. "I think I'd like that. Osiris is a bit like that, but sometimes a bit too tidy. The smaller moons on the other hand are quite poor. You like dancing?"

"I've, not tried it too often." tim said. Though he had been dragged onto the dance floor at T'ing's sister's wedding. "I'm not gracefull."

"I said dancing, not being graceful," River replied. "I found a place in town that was good for dancing, although not graceful style. It's more fun with company."

Tim smirked. He had seen plenty of non-gracefull dancing. "What place is that?" he asked.

"I think it's called the Empire," River replied.
