Happy Day After Invasion Day. :p
So today I discovered that the cockroaches from the last place we lived in have actually followed us to this, hiding in boxes and bags, waiting for the right moment to spring forth and announce their presence - that being today, of course.
It's as if they've used the months to breed super-intelligent versions of themselves and are intent upon destroying us. But I will not let the bugs win!
The first thing that alerted me was when they tried to kidnap the Tiny Tyrant.
I turned my back to wash dishes for all of two minutes, and next thing I know he's moving across the floor... backwards. It was very Pratchett-esque. I managed to grab him before he got anywhere bad though, so crisis averted. As I picked him up, I got my first eyeful of bug though - and SHRIEKED - the last place has given me an absolute terror of the little rotters. So they all ran away and hid before I could do much more than gibber. And then Tyrant started asking for a cup of tea, so I got distracted and completely forgot the damn roaches till later.
We pootled to the library, and saw two fairy winged boys on the way there, and a girl with what looked like a tattoo in the middle of her forehead and a necklace of tiny shrunken heads. They all got onto the bus as we were coming down the hill, so I didn't get a chance to see them up close.
I came home to a phone call, and the news that fairy's not only been seeing someone else behind my back for months, if not YEARS, but he has a little girl with her - older than the Tyrant!, and he's left myself and the Tyrant for these other two "women"! Just a lovely end to my day, really.
And now I've gotta go - it sound like the cockroaches have created a miniature Deathstar in the kitchen in the interim. There's burning bits of teatowel all over the place.
