Mid-pregnancy ultrasound

Jan 11, 2008 16:55

Wednesday was my morphology ultrasound - where they check Splodge's innards are all formed and where they should be, that hir legs and arms are the same length, and there are not likely to be bone problems or anything.
Ultrasound tech pronounced everything to be "perfect" for my due date - which she confirmed as being correct. Apparently my placenta is high - I guess this is affecting my uterus. Or maybe my midwife is full of crap and thinks I should conform to a very narrow set of standards and has no freaking clue if I don't.

ANYWAY.
We got a DVD, which is basically a recording of what was on the screen - so I can re-watch to my heart's content the little measurements being taken of Splodge's arms and leg bones, the labels being assigned to hir kidneys, bladder and the four chambers of hir heart (THAT was really cool), and see my incredible flexible fetus suck its thumb (aawwwww!) and bend in half, with hir feet waving over hir head.

Giant forehead Splodge! With nose and lips and eyes and... sinuses, I think!

Skeletor Baby! You can see the ear, eye socket and jaw here - Splodge is looking straight at us, lying on hir back.
