This week they have had me actually updating case files at work. Yesterday one of the counselors handed me the key to the confidential files and the case file of a guy I went to high school with. When I opened the filing cabinet to put the case file away, hundreds of familiar names were thrust into my retinas. Hot tempered fathers, classmates, the girl that rubbed everyone the wrong way in 7th grade... everyday people that are wellknown in the community. It blew me away to all of a sudden have knowledge of all the disfunctions that people hide away.
As I update and organize the information in these case files, all these stories come out and it just make my heart ache! A 4-year-old girl who was sexually molested and has been in 4 foster homes. She's seperated from two older sisters who appear to have been nasty to her too. Each session she tells a story about a baby bear and two bad bears to abuse baby. Mommy and daddy bear are always on a walk. It's amazing to piece things together and peek into the window of a person's life.
