A revision on a previous poem to fit within this weeks assignment guidelines. I like how it turned out. . . .very reflective of the present in relation to two years ago.
Conviction in a Smile
I remember her sadness
as her grey blue eyes
lost their glow.
I remember her fear
in the crook of her
broken smile.
I remember her pain
radiating from her
burdened soul.
I remember her shoulders
bent beneath the weight of
troubles unknown.
I remember her heartache
bleeding with each
broken step.
But she did not
walk up to death.
She ran fast;
fury in her eyes,
conviction mingled
on her smile,
shedding the burden
of her soul.
I remember her heartbreak
cheating death,
it did not
defeat her.
