Okay, so after taking K to class this morning, D and I headed over to campus so I could return that stack of books and get a whole new stack. After that we headed to the LDS bookstore (Deseret Book) to look for something I need for my upcoming Myth presentation. I have to talk about Satan as a mythological character. I'm totally up for this. But considering all of the knowledge I have of him has been based on the Mormon faith I was raised with, well it's best if I start my research there and then branch out. So, I went in search of a book I know of. They didn't have it. But I found two books about Eve and her role in the Garden of Eden.
This find sparked a conversation with the older gentlemen behind the counter. Now mind you, I walked into this very Mormon bookstore with purple and white blonde streaked hair, a shiny new nose stud and multiple piercings in my ears. Not what you normally see there. But the point is, this man, this gracious beautiful man didn't judge me. He had a conversation with me on his level. He recgonized my level of knowledge and we shared ideas about the meaning of the serpent in the garden and the purpose of the transgression. I wish I could have stayed and talked with him longer. . . .but D was doing the potty dance and announcing to the whole store he was about to pee in his pants. We had to go.
Truly amazing experience. And these books may give me some material for my research paper. As it pretains to symbols and archetypes.
