after two-and-a-half years since i left santa monica college i am now, officiallly, going back to school! i enrolled and registered yesterday morning (i also went to the dentist, aren't i a good girl?), yay! my schedule is as follows:
m, w 12:30pm - 3:40pm - basic design: two-dimensional
t, th 10:55am - 12:20am - fitness: cardio-kickboxing
t, th 12:30pm - 3:40pm - drawing
t, th 3:40pm - 5:05pm - fitness: yoga
t, th 7:00pm - 9:00pm - japanese I
my tuesdays and thursdays are going to be long. x_o; i'm supposed to be concentrating on art, but the two art classes i signed up for are literally the only two i can take right now (unless i want to go into ceramics) because they are the prerequisites for, well, everything. after i finish them i can take drawing II and life drawing and so on, as well as watercolor and oil painting and all that jazz. the problem is that next semester is summer, which is short. i don't know if i'll be at a good enough level by the end of summer to be accepted into a good art college (though i'll try), so it's definitely likely that bryan and i are going to be staying here longer than the one year we had originally planned.
i guess it all sounded so much more convinient when we first talked about it. "oh, we'll stay in san jose for a year, which means jen can take a year's worth of college courses and build up her portfolio and apply to art colleges!" yeah, that would have been perfect, if we had moved here in january. but we got here in september, so classes for the fall had already started by then which means that i missed out on a whole semester. that was a huge set back, so unless i can produce a massively good portfolio after having been out of school (and art) for over two years by august, we're going to need to stay longer.
as for my other classes, i'm taking japanese again because i'm disappointed in myself that i didn't get an A in japanese II (because i didn't try). but i've lost so much that i learned already that i'll need to take japanese I again so that i'll do well in II. the biggest driving factor in taking japanese is that it's worth 5 units, because now i'm at 13 units which means i'm a full-time student, which means can stay under my dad's healthcare, which means i can go see a doctor if i need to (and i haven't had a check-up in like 3 years)! i'm also taking cardio kick-boxing and yoga because i need to be healthier again and get back in shape! yoga was really good for my back and fexibility back when i was doing it, so i'm looking forward to it. kick-boxing...i'm afraid of. but the more i thought of it the more i think that it's more likely to give me results in 3 months than lower body conditioning would have. i hope i don't end up dreading it.
things are finally in motion again. :] next step: buy books, art supplies, and work-out clothes!
oh, and i got my hair cut! i have side-swept bangs. now, if only i had a blow-dryer so that they'll keep looking this nice (ugh, i hate styling hair). i'm getting it dyed on the 17th, it's going to be a deep red. my color consultationist told me a "red-violet" would be a good coloring for my skin tone. i can't wait!
