The long awaited NYC entry. Its been a week, and I kinda miss it already. Although... I make this vow here and now... I will NEVER sleep in the same room as Jenna EVER again. I love the girl to death... but not only does she snore like a monster regularly, this past weekend she was congested, so it was like trying to sleep through an earthquake. Even with how tired I was, I didnt sleep until 3 in the morning.
Anyways, OTHERWISE, it was so much fun. Saturday we took the bus into Port Authority (next time: Train into GCC, cheaper and quicker), and got to Jenna's brother's place in Manhattan around noon. It was seriously a PAIN walking around with our bags, especially because the subways were confusing (who knew they changed from 'Local' to 'express' during the weekends? Not me... I'll keep it in mind), and then Jenna got us lost around 86th and York. Finally we found his place, dropped off our stuff, and grabbed lunch... New York PIZZA YUM!!! I was stuffed after only two pieces.
After, we traveled to Rockefeller Center, where we went to the NBC Store and Nintendo World and then down to Times Square, and I finally convinced Jenna and Kay to go to Ground Zero. Dinner was at a bar with DELICIOUS Mexican food. Sunday we ventured to Central Park, back to Nintendo World and Times Square, and back to the Port Authority just in time to miss our bus. It was a good opportunity to relax though. Bus ride back convinced me that I pretty much DONT want children. Or, if I do have them, I wont be STUPID enough to bring a hyper toddler-brat and an incessantly crying infant with me on a bus or plane trip.
I loved it, but getting back felt REALLY good. I loved the looks on my parent's face when we stopped by before heading back up to Keene. =)
Anyways, that's pretty much the short story... more details and pictures can be found...
I think this picture is PERFECT for NYC. The squished apartment building on the right, the amazing architecture in the church in the center, and the suddenly, a SHINY SKYSCRAPER. Not to mention the street FILLED with cabs and the bus stop right there. This was just opposite of the Rockefeller Center.
SOOOOOO excited to be in Rockefeller Center. <3
Me, Jenna, and Kay, taking advantage of other picture-taking tourists... still in Rockefeller Center.
HOORAY NINTENDO WORLD!
OMG ITS A PIKACHU!!! I MUST STEAL IT!!!
REALLY OLDSCHOOL. They had display cases with a BUNCH of old and new Nintendo Gear... one original gameboy that surived a bombing in the gulf war and still works!
Venturing into Times Square... ooooh, but wait... what's THIS...
HO MY GOD HERSHEY'S!!! O_O
Shiny things amuse me.
This is where the WTC was...
... and what it looks like now...
This was a tad eerie. But apparently they have big plans for a really cool memorial... which I had taken a picture of the plans. Waterfalls, parks, and a subway station (already there) that goes to NJ.
Central Park time!
Ooooooooh, skyline in the Central Park castle! :p
I LOVE something about this picture. I really do.
PHEW! That's A LOT of stuff... all in just a little over 24 hours. It was intense. And SOOOOO much fun. I cant wait until I move there and can house my friends for more weekends like this. =D
