Man, I haven’t done on of these in a while... and I don't know why, these dumb crimes come out of the woodwork like contestants of American Idol.
Well, this looks to be a great point to start again.
Today’s larceny while under the influence of dumb comes to us from the good folks of
WTAE, Channel 4 Pittsburg, PA.
According to local police, a 21 year old named Micah Calamosca was arrested a few days ago for carjacking a plainclothes police officer’s car in East Pittsburg. Detective Robert DiGiacomo, the potential carjacking victim, was in an unmarked vehicle in Shadyside, a neighborhood in east side of Pittsburg, looking for a suspect in a reported assault. That's when police said a man, who matched the suspect’s description, opened the car door, sat down and told the officer to get out.
And what he told the detective was:
He’s an actor for the new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises", being filmed nearby… and his script says he needs to steal a car. Yes… the dude pinned everything on Batman, folks.
Here's the video for you viewing pleasure:
Cop: Man Tried To Carjack Unmarked Vehicle With Batman Story - Pittsburgh News Story - WTAE Pittsburgh Detective DiGiacomo was able to poke holes in Mr. Calamosca’s story. One being that there were no cameras around filming. Two, that he didn't have a script on him. And three… the dude sucks really bad at lying. The detective drew his gun and ordered the suspect out of the car. A witness, Paul Connelly, said, "When he got into the car, he told the fella to get out and it turns out it was the undercover police car that was called to check him out. Out of all the cars to try and carjack, this should be the last one to choose."
No kidding, man. All I can say is forget Batman, be lucky he didn't decide to carjack Starsky and Hutch.
Calamosca was taken into custody and faces a charge of robbery of a motor vehicle. He's currentlly being held at the Allegheny County Jail without bond.
