the end-of-the-year on writing meme:

Overall Thoughts:
This year, I wrote less overall, but I wrote more words. I think?? It feels more like a quality over quantity year anyhoo (there are several fics on here I've re-read without being embarrassed I wrote such drivel, whereas compared to past years, not so much.)

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Totally less than I predicted.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
Well, two pairings/fandoms I wrote are for this year's fandom_stocking, so I can't really talk about them, but if I *could* talk about them, I'd say, woahhh, that is so new for you, self.

What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
I'm pretty proud of rock my world (but don't break my heart) and also if i recover.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
...Not so much, unfortunately. This has been the year of hell, school-wise. I mean, I wrote thousands upon thousands of analytic papers...But I think I took the risk of writing more smutty pieces? Or trying to get back in the swing of writing smutty stuff. Definitely felt like I totally forgot how to write about sex. Oh! And crossovers. I might've written a lot more crossovers than I usually do (or it feels that way).

From my past year of writing, what was...

My best story of this year:
I can't really distinguish between "best story of the year" and "most popular story" below; don't they basically mean the same thing? But, in terms of Comments, kudos, bookmarks, and hits on Archive of Our Own, it has to be rock my world (but don't break my heart).

My most popular story of this year:
^ see previous answer.

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
the Dillon/Summer entry for trope_bingo. Mostly because the PR fandom is so small-ish to begin with. But I love both characters so, y'know, whatever.

Most fun story to write:
put your hand in mine. fluuuufff, so fluuuuuffyyyyy.
Or maybe it's Adventures of Clyde: Super Sleuth and Undercover Tortoise? Adventures of Clyde is a super, duper fun story, but was nerve-wrecking to write and even now I get embarrassed I wrote it, so I have no idea (but most likely it's Put Your Hand in Mine because that was *not* nerve-wrecking to write and kinda wrote itself so that was major fun).

Story with the single sexiest moment:
I guess this would depend on what a person finds "sexy"? I definitely find jealousy sexy, but the good kind of jealousy--not the possessive, sociopathetic jealousy, just the insecure kinda jealousy, look it's a kink, ok? I can't explain it. So having said all that definitely, I think, the moment where Dorian holds down John with his super-strength in rock my world (but don't break my heart). Jealousy and almost-bondage-but-not-quite! ("Hungry Like the Wolf" also has that "sexy" moment where Merton & Tommy are trying to get naked and fall off the bed, and then there's SEX ON THE FLOOR AND FLIPPING AND ALSO JEALOUSY FOR LIKE THE WHOLE THIRD OF THE FIC. I have a type, apparently.)

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
That Melissa/Stiles thingie I wrote at the beginning of the year. And, also, one of the fandom_stocking pieces I wrote but can't talk about yet. (TMI, but age/height differences also get me hot and bothered and both these pieces I talk about in this category include age differences.)

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Again, that Melissa/Stiles smutty thing. And maybe that castle/elementary crossover.

Hardest story to write:
the Duke/Nathan story for one of the squares for trope_bingo. IDK. Maybe it was the sex. And the Audrey/Duke/Nathan story for the troublesfest.

Biggest Disappointment:
maybe the Duke/Nathan story? the Dillon/Summer story definitely because I did not have any idea how to end it properly (it was originally going to have sex as well but, yeah, totally forgot how to write sex when I was writing that piece).

Biggest surprise:
in terms of popularity, definitely the Clyde birthday fic. But then again, he is one pretty awesome turtle so I don't know why I'm all that surprised.

Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
the sexy Dorian/John piece, and the Merton/Tommy smutty piece (they're pretty much my idfics) and the fandom_stocking piece which I can't talk about but is definitely smutty and definitely in the category of an idfic.
