Moon Works
Well hello to all of you. This entry is largely just me assessing what I’ve got done and what I hope to finish in the future. I’m quite pleased with my writing progress these last few months - I’ve been working through some stories I’ve had in note form for a while and was beginning to think I’d never get written. If I keep up like this, I will fairly soon write all the Gravitation stories I have in note form. Some of the Alexander stories probably won’t get written - not because I’ve gone off the subject but because my perception of the “characters” has changed that much that the subjects don’t make sense to me anymore. But don’t worry, they weren’t memorable!!!
Most of you reading this (if any of you DO read this!) will know me from my Alexander stories. Gravitation was obviously a later interest. Never having counted Alexander as a “fandom”, I was stunned to find myself writing a fanfiction for a Japanese manga / anime. But there was something about the plot and the characters that just got me going.
I also think, if it doesn’t sound unforgivably arrogant, that I write what I want to read. With Alexander, there was too much Renault-based Bagoas / Hephaestion angst. Some of it is terrifically well written - far better than I could do basing a story on someone else’s work - and some of it was remarkably satisfying, especially “responses” to the Renaultverse from authors such as Qaddaffi, Victoria P and Devil Doll. But it wasn’t enough for me! And a huge amount of it was film-based, with Jared Leto flicking his long hair around and flashing his blue eyes. That film, and the casting of Hephaestion, just didn’t do it for me! So I suppose I wrote things the way I wanted them.
The same is true in Gravitation. It’s a great story but the majority of the fanfiction makes me feel old, not to mention a huge killjoy, as I either sneer or lament at the bad writing, the silly pairings, the Mpregs, gay adoption sagas, dreadful angst and woman-bashing. Some of it is quite unforgivable in it’s moral outlook… but every time I itch to flame, I wonder if I would have done any better at 15-17, which is how old some of these authors admit to being. And, once again, there are some truly excellent authors who have written stories which beautifully compliment the original idea and also add some new dimensions to it. But anyway, I’ve written what I want to read - in this case, often “missing” scenes or scenes I wished had continued for longer.
If anyone likes my stories but doesn’t know dipsh*t about animes, mangas or Gravitation in particular, please feel free to post a comment or email me directly for any info you would like!
Right. Enough self-indulgence - now on to the lists!
FINISHED STORIES - NOT YET POSTED - ALEXANDER
Stormcloud - A little follow-up story to my story “The Wooden Horse.” Virtually finished; just needs a little extra detail.
(Untitled) - A conversation between Hephaestion and Cleitos (NOTHING SEXY! I can’t abide Hephaestion / Cleitos. Virtually finished, just needs a little editing. NO NAME YET!
FINISHED STORIES - NOT YET POSTED - GRAVITATION
Stories - A year after Eiri’s return to Japan, Tohma gives him an unexpected - and unwanted - gift. Eiri’s POV. Came to me in a flash!
I’ll Belong to You - Set after the Bad Luck concert Eiri and Ayaka attend (Yuki is all MINE!) Shuichi returns home to Eiri. Shuichi’s POV.
Eighth Day of the Week - Like “Stories”, one of those that seemed to come from nowhere. Nearly abandoned it, then hacked it up, gave some of the blabby bits to “27 Days”, and decided I liked it! Shuichi has been living with Eiri for more than a week - so what now? Shuichi and Eiri’s POV.
Fantasy - Originally a scene from story “Eighth Day” but grew into a full story while I was writing it! Eiri asks Shuichi what his fantasies are… (Eiri’s POV)
Aren’t you in Love? - One of my few “missing scene” stories based only on the manga. Takes place after Eiri’s “lunch” with Sakano, just after he’s dumped Shuichi. That question from Bad Luck’s producer has a strange effect on Eiri’s mind… (Eiri’s POV)
Bitter Anniversary - It’s a year since Ayaka effectively ruined her own engagement to Eiri and she wants to celebrate it with Hiro. But her boyfriend is commemorating a rather different anniversary… (Ayaka’s POV)
Solitude - Continues on from the “battery scene” (where Shuichi disguises himself to visit Eiri), Eiri muses on his strange mood after “coming out.” (Eiri’s POV)
(Untitled) - Originally supposed to be a scene in a story roughly titled “I love you”, ended up becoming it’s own story. As Eiri moves into his new flat after his wedding to Ayaka goes pearshaped, he thinks about the first time Shuichi moved in with him… (Eiri’s POV)
Autumn Afternoon - Eiri and K’s meeting in the park! (Eiri’s POV)
That’s it for now - there are more stories in note form or half-written, both for Grav and Alexander. But time’s up for now, so watch this space!
