The Fashion Show Rants

Okay, I just watched Episode 8 of the Fashion Show. I have so much to say, but let me start off with an explanation for why I am watching that show.

It's actually a really bad show. I contemplated continuing watching it after episode 1, but it's a reality show, and there's this thing about reality shows that you want to keep watching it to see where these people end up. But for me, it's really a filler until Project Runway comes back on air in September.
It's basically the worse version of project runway. They give the challengers these tasks and sometimes they have to work in pairs, making it really hostile and crazy. And then at the end there's a show with all these people, and the winning designs are chosen by the audience and then the final decision is left up to the judges.
I understand audience matters because well, whose going to buy your stuff (you know?) But the fact that they're so unaware of really the techniques and the overall background of the pieces is so bothersome (like, the piece I liked wasn't even chosen as one of the best three in episode 8).
Not to mention, this show is run by terrible judges. Okay, Isaac, I'm fine with. BUT KELLY ROWLAND???? She needs to just go away. She knows nothing, and what's worse is that she thinks she does. And the whole show with Angel was absurd. I understand that hip hop is a huge part of our culture, but it's not like she understood really what a B-girl was, and I definitely have friends who don't know what that is either. So for Kelly to get so insulted was just her own personal problem. And really, she doesn't bring anything new. She's a yes girl, that just agrees with people or says something is cute or states the obvious. I mean, COME ON.

The contestants are a different story. I really hate like all of them, minus 4 maybe, although like 2 of those 4 were already eliminated at this point. I HATE DANIELLA. I don't think she's original at all, and when she tries to be, it turns out bad. And the whole thing with her and Reco working together . . . she was the one with the pants and he eventually caved in, and then the judges said they didn't like the pants and so she says Reco didn't want to work with her. I wouldn't either she's so difficult and she thinks she's ALL THAT. When all she'll really be good for is working under someone.
The ones with actual talent are over looked or hated. I mean, they're jerks and super cocky, but still way more talented than the cliquey people who just stick together and ask each other advice. Be more original guys and hold you own. UGH.

Anyway, episode 8 upset me because Anna just tried to screw everyone she didn't like over. I mean, it's obvious she was choosing favorites. But you might as well just toss everyone up instead of trying to send someone home. Because as a result of that, she sent her friend home. I just hate the whole cliquey-ness of the girls that are left. It's vomit-inducing.

And Johnny annoys me. When he's doing poorly, he's like "send me home." When he's doing well, he's like "I care about the competition." Make up your friggin mind and stop wasting other people's time. You're really not that talented, you wouldn't have done that last challenge well without Merlin who sewed everything, and I was so down with Reco when he got mad at you. I agree that there are so many people who actually want to be there that ARE talented, so just get off the show already. Really.

By the way, Reco does bother me. He bothered me more in the beginning than now. But he actually has talent and he's actually good at executiting things and bringing in his own ideas. He's really full of himself, but at least he has the work to back it up. I think this also goes for Merlin, whose mouth gets him into things, but his skills get him out.

James Paul is my favorite as of right now. I don't know about him winning, but I definitely see eye-to-eye with him both socially and conceptually. He understands that you don't have to really choose favorites nor make enemies. I mean, he's chill. That's probably why he can get his work done (because he's not filling his head with more stress). He's also gracious and he respects the judges. Also, as an artist, I like his work because I have a bias in the sense that what he likes I also coincidentally like, so his work, if it reflects his interest, should also be good (to me at least).

Anna just isn't too memorable, so I have no real feelings for her. At least not any that I could write a long super rant about (other than what happened in episode 8).

That's about it for the Fashion Show. If you don't want to watch trash, don't start watching it. If you like bad reality tv though, I highly recommend it.
