The Banks Occupy Cleveland. It's time to Occupy back!
The Occupy Cleveland movement is coming back to Public Square in a big way this Saturday, November 12th! Be at the Tom Johnson statue (northwest, near the "55" building) at noon to enjoy performances, crafts, a potluck lunch, great labor and liberation speakers, and a big spirited march through downtown at 3:00. And at 4:00, join in a nonviolent and FUN direct action to Occupy the Banks that have been occupying Cleveland!
Our theme for the day is rebuilding our foreclosed communities. People who want to work hard and play by the rules can't get jobs, can't pay their mortgages, and can't catch a break. That's because the economic system is rigged against the 99% of Clevelanders who don't live off trust funds and accumulated wealth. We don't have all the answers, but the Occupy Cleveland movement keeps raising questions about things that affect ordinary people where they live.
Program for Saturday
ARTS ALL AFTERNOON:
There will be stencils and supplies to create and decorate "99%" headbands.
Bring your own clothing to stencil and decorate!
OccupyCleveland T-shirt will be awarded for the best "Monopoly guy" costume; we'll be making some rectangular red and square green houses to match!
NO TENTS. We are building HOUSES to be carried or worn around downtown!
HOW THE DAY GOES:

1pm - Speakers TBA
2pm - Music by Johnathan Blackshire and Loki
3pm - March to the banks!

CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE/ARREST RISK:
This action is designed as a creative way to highlight the issues surrounding foreclosure in our communities. All houses are being created as pieces of art, designed to be mobile--not structural--and will be set up with the intention of moving if we are foreclosed on rather that intentionally creating or escalating high-arrest-risk situations.

What started as an Occupy Wall Street demonstration has now grown to
a real movement in upwards of a thousand cities. And so we have
created a new Occupy America bumper sticker, combining the word
"Occupy" in big letters with a graphic of a map of the U.S. fashioned
from a billowing American flag. It's bold, it's strongly symbolic,
and you can have one for no charge, not even shipping, just by
submitting the form below.
Occupy America bumper stickers:
http://www.peaceteam.net/all_bumper_stickers.php Of course, if you can make a donation of any amount to help support
our work, like the production of the new feature length narrative
film, "The Last War Crime", about indicting Cheney for torture, this
is also what makes it possible for us to send free bumper stickers to
anyone who cannot make a donation right now.
Speaking of "The Last War Crime", post production is now nearly
complete and we are starting to submit the film to various selected
film festivals. This is a critical first step in getting this movie
into real theaters where it can have the most impact.
The first DVD we sent out was to the Santa Barbara International Film
Festival, one of the most prominent American film festivals, and one
with a reputation of being conscious of social justice issues. IF
their screeners recognize that this is a film that needs to be seen
by millions, indeed billions, of people, we will then be able to
happily report back to you that "The Last War Crime" has been
accepted for competition this year, and then we'll tell all of our
valiant participants where they can get tickets to go see it.
We're not in yet . . . all we can do now is cross our fingers that
there are others who see what we see.
Please take action NOW, so we can win all victories that are supposed
to be ours, and forward this alert as widely as possible.
