Some things I've read recently that I thought were worth sharing. No brainpower for commentary at the moment:

Fascinating new developments in the interactions between bodies and non-ionizing radiation (this'd be of the "good news and bad news" variety -- interesting ramifications for treatments, but also a whole renewed need to research into the effects of what's already in our environments)

Just for fun: Nerve and IFC list their 50 favorite sex scenes from the movies (I have nothing to say yet, since I can't access Nerve from work -- I'll have to look when I get home, and I'm leaving the link here largely for that reason)

A funny and rather accurate post about those mythical bi men (why isn't Alan Cumming acknowledged when he talks about how few out bi men there are in the media, though?)

A brief but cogent reaction to the "cannabis/schizophrenia" meta-analysis

Baring the Truth -- an article critiquing the resurgence of bareback porn

Not an article -- Press release from the DNC about their intent to do widespread voter protection analysis for 2008 I've been working with Election Protection for the past 6 year or so, I think, and I feel very strongly about the massive problems in our system, so I'm curious to see what they do, and whether it's beneficial. However, I very much hope they neither replace nor merge with Election Protection. Although it's largely supported by progressive groups, it's nonpartisan, and desperately needs to stay that way.

Along the same lines: State: Florida Voting Machines Can Be Hacked -- this may be particularly interesting to those who saw Hacking Democracy; it's a followup on the part of the experiment they documented then.

Particularly infuriating to me: In Violation of Federal Law, Ohio's 2004 Presidential Election Records Are Destroyed or Missing

and still more:

Scientists' Tests Hack Into Electronic Voting Machines in California and Elsewhere

A new little tidbit about HPV infection routes

and relatedly:

U.S. Researchers Aim To Develop Low-Cost HPV Vaccine Using Tobacco Plant

Ohio Bill Would Make Abortion Illegal Without Paternal Consent Wasting our time dealing with crap legislation like this, state by state, is a huge part of how they drag us down and keep us from focusing on doing more than trying to hold the line. It's not likely this'll pass, but there's enough of a risk that it still takes resources to fight it. Fuckers.

A few links about the major clinic protests in AL a couple weeks ago (and an interesting one full of tidbits about who all these protestors are)

and a nice succinct little anti-circumcision post (specifically regarding the new push for HIV prevention reasons)

Funding in State Budget

OK, it's about time to go. I think that's as much of my mailbox as I'm getting through (most of these were a linkdump of emailed articles that interested me and I hadn't had a chance to read before today).
