ok, I like military press almost as much as squats. I find that with enough willpower, I can push myself through the rough spots. Last night's lifting was fun - we had
quinnclub and
ectropy and wedoff and shosh and david and me. Shosh opined that I should lift in black latex next time, to round out the harsh-taskmaster role. I like that idea. ;)
I don't like to push people too hard - I just think that most people, especially women, don't realize how strong they are. Shoshana is a great example. She thought she was a little weakling, but really she increased each of her lifts between 20% and 100% this week.
The sad part was
ectropy hurting herself on the military press. Thankfully, we had an in-house massage therapist able to come in and do some myofascial work on her. I still felt responsible - when you're pushing someone (even implicitly) and they go past the point of pain, how can it not be your fault? ...
Then we all trundled out to the Cheesecake Factory (because they're open late) and got appetizers (because they're the size of a reasonable main course).
quinnclub took off, but then came back with a bonus
cloeigrrl! And there was much contented munching.
This weekend I've been tasked with digging up some old writing... I'm hoping it will spur me to do some of the new writing I need to do. Company paaahty on Saturday evening - David and I are crashing and taking advantage of the cheap rates at the Westin Copley. Sunday may be power rack day with w. and s. Sunday evening may shape up to be arcade-dancin' night, if I'm lucky - anyone want to come play Pump It Up?
