Saturday,
dilletante and I slept for 12 hours, and I only got up once in the night. Bliss!
Sunday, we went for a long walk (9 km!). We walked alongside Rte 16 for a bit and saw some truly enormous fish in the tiny little creek. They were carp-shaped, mud-colored, and probably the size of big skunks or raccoons. And there were lots of them! I hadn't ever thought about which fish would be good urban fish, since it's so much easier to spot the birds and the mammals who can make it.
Halfway through the walk, we had to stop and sit on some grass so that D could rub the bottom of my foot. I hurt my right foot a couple of weeks ago on a long walk, and if I tire it out, I start to limp. I had been mostly ignoring the rising pain in it, during the walk, until it got so bad that I was limping. Luckily, some good pummeling from D brought it back in line and I was able to walk another three miles or so on it.
When we reached our endpoint in Harvard Square, we came across a bunch of circus performers hooping and swinging poi and stilting, and so we sat down and watched for a while. I think I'd like to try hooping next spring, when the weather gets nice again and I regain some kind of waist. I liked watching the 8 - 9 year old girl on stilts as tall as she was -- seriously, the platform must have been 4 feet up, and she just looked as calm as could be.
Then, lovely Finale food and dessert with people we don't see enough, "weightlifting" where neither of us actually lifted but we had company over, and a few more episodes of Lost. I actually feel refreshed, today. I don't think I've felt this good on a Monday in ages.
