I had, overall, a decent weekend. I was feeling incredibly sleepy on Saturday evening. I think that what I needed, rather than a couple of excellent, large, noisy parties, was instead a quiet chattery evening with tasty foods. No harm done, though, and I certainly enjoyed myself anyway. And now that I know I need this, I can work on getting it ( Read more... )

good day, by-x

Way cool. Glad you're home from your trip. I'm going to start Firefly in the next month or so - how is it?

I was underwhelmed by "Joan of Arcadia" because I'm too used to Whedonesque grandiosity, but I think I'll keep with it, just so I can sit still long enough to learn to knit.

Keep working! Are you wearing your Professional Clothes?

Oh, Firefly's very fun! The writing is excellent. It's snappy and well-done without being annoying, I think. The color/lighting changes are charmingly heavy-handed, too. Anything good is VERY VERY GOLDEN and HIGH-CONTRAST. Scary things are either blue or washed-out.

Professional Clothes?

*snerk*

I am wearing my fleecy ICEBIKE tights, a fleecey shirt, fuzzy socks, and a terrycloth robe. And I have a soft throw that my mother-in-law crocheted. I suppose that if you remove the bathrobe and add bike shoes and shorts under the tights, it's an outfit I bike to work in frequently. It also just happens to feel like pajamas.

I'm wearing my pearlizumi amfib tights under purple widewale corduroys today. It's too fscking cold to ride, so i took Ye Olde MBTA Bus.

Oh--- and my Schmidt E6 came in. It's going on the new Schwinn Fastback LTD with Cosmos wheels I bought. Now all I have to do is wait for my black 290mm spokes and 32h black Open Pro rim to come in so I can build the damn wheel. But yay, LIGHTS. :) Though now that i think about it, I may be tempted to put the new wheel on the Surly for the late-winter season.

Oh! Yay lights! Also, damn, yay Fastback! Are you riding it in this weather?

Not riding the Fastback, no. The Surly's my slushy-weather ride these days. I gave it 38c knobbies for the snow. The Fastback is for weekend long rides once it's not fuckitscold degrees outside. Like, say, 25 or above. ;) Plus it came stock with a 10cm stem, and that's Too Damn Long for me; I'm waiting for a 6cm stem with a higer rise to come in. I'm having to twiddle the light mounts on it, because I have 31.8mm handlebars and the standard light mount doesn't deal well with that. I think I'm going to buy a NOB and mount it off my stem or fork blade.

Dude, the BBS 200k is May 1. We should ride sometime.

May 1? That late?! Woot! I can *totally* do that. I was afraid of last year's PBP schedule.

Want to plan on getting a few people together and tracing the BBS 200k route two or three weeks before the event?

Sure! Send me mail at my LJ address. I'm thinking a Saturday, like say April 10; we could meet at Quad Cycles and ride from there. It's close enough to Bedford.

Notably, Sundays don't work for me; that's my work-at-the-shop day.
