Life According to Sam
I haven't written in a while, mostly because i haven't felt I've had anything to write about. Now however enough has happened recently that I can keep you entertained or occupied rather for a decent amount of time :).
I'll start off with filling all of you in on the situation between myself and two friends...well actually I guess now they're just people that I know (I'm about to explain, don't worry.) So, two of my really good friends and I have recently...broken up. I'm not quite sure when our problems started really I just know that by the end of December there was TROUBLE in paradise. We would go out and I would find myself having to make an effort to have a good time. There was tension because one of them would never get angry at me to my face, and she would sometimes get mad at me for something she heard from...someone else. The other friend was just kind of there, she was nice and fun but never seemed to actually engage. The friend who would get mad behind my back, let's call her...Jenny and we'll call the other one Jane for the sake of reader comprehension; anyhow so Jenny and I would constantly call each other during the day at work to alleviate boredom and keep in touch. So, the Wednesday after New Years I called her to say hi, mentioned that I may be close to where she lives on the upcoming Friday and maybe I could see her and Jane. I explained that it depended on the plans Melissa made with Olivia because if things worked out i'd be going to visit Olivia with Melissa. Jenny said to let her know. The next day I got an email from Jane bitching me out for saying I might see them...ok I'll just share the email with you. And to hell with this Jenny and jane crap we'll just revert back to their actual names, Ashley and AJ (respectively).

I hear you are coming into waterloo maybe to see mellissa...and not your two other friends who actually live here. I dont mean to be rude but I think your being a little bit of a bitch. Your free to do whatever you want, but I mean it when I say that lately you have been acting like your life doesnt concern ashley or I....when clearly we were all really close and now you have chosen to just go some other way. I am not trying to pressure you or make you upset or whatever...but atleast have the manners to tell us if we have dropped on the scale of your friends, cuz ashley and my attention and friendship doesnt need to be wasted if it will never be returned. I think your an awesome person but coming to our city and not even coming to see us is just rediculous.
By the way, thank you for all your help moving this past weekend.

And now my...commentary. First of all when I got the email I assumed that AJ was just being her wonderfully silly self with the subject line and first line of the email..clearly I was wrong. And b/c of the subject matter I find the subject line incredibly rude and oofensive, especially b/c neither Melissa or Olivia are Jewish!! But ignoring that for the time being, let's start with the first two lines of the paragraph. I was going to Waterloo to visit Olivia, who lives there, b/c she is Melissa's other best friend and after New Years we clicked and wanted to get to know each other better and become friends. And who among us doesn't already know that I AM A BITCH. I put myself first most of the time, we all know this!!! I still love my friends and WILL go out of my way to help them if they need me..but I am a bitch like grr!! Ok, so moving on "your free to do whatever you want" well thank you for your permission to do as I please, like I wouldn't anyway? And who wants to be friends with someone who sends you an email LIKE THIS b/c you're going to visit a different friend...maybe I don't know the rules and I'm only allowed to be friends with her and Ashley? Yes we were really close until you guys started being assholes who got offended if I didn't feel like going out, or went out with someone different. Look at New Years (again) I HATE WATERLOO AND PHIL'S (a bar there which they love) I did not want to spend New Years that way, plus I haven't been able to see Melissa very much and since I knew her plans did not include Phils but did include the opportunity to meet new ppl I went with her...very unreasonable I know...consider this though Andrea, Steph, Brynne, Ali, none of them got upset b/c I didn't do New Years with them, and I’m still friends with all of them too. So, I did end up in Waterloo on the Friday. And since it’s not long distance I decided I’d call AJ and that way we could speak and deal with this bullshit. I called her around 9:30pm, she picked up and I said:
“Hi, how’s it going?”
“Goood..”
“So I got your email”
“Yeah..”
“Do you know what the subject line was?”
“Something about Jewish…”
“You said “Not everyone can be Jewish” what exactly does that mean?”
“Oh..umm..I dunno…that you’re a Jew…and ummm..”
“Melissa’s not Jewish”
“Oh”
“Do you realise how offensive that is?”
“Umm..I’m kinda drunk right now…I can’t really grasp the gravity of the situation right now”
“I see… If you had a problem with me why wouldn’t you just call me?”
“Because Ashley said I should email you.”
“Ok well…you’re drinking…do you want to call me tomorrow?”
“Yeah ok”
“Ok…don’t forget.”
“Ok, bye”
“Bye”
That’s more or less the conversation and I am still waiting for that phone call.
