044 - Rinoa, Mikoto - Action in Alexandria

[So Rinoa is here like she promised, to visit Zidane and Garnet. She's still not popular in Alexandria and this is obvious from the suspicious way the guards treat her, but they're under orders and they escort her into the castle to meet the king and queen. It's all a bit more formal than she'd hoped. Where are they

[When Garnet arrives, she is dressed in her full regalia -- gown, tiara, the works. However, she looks a bit haggard, smoothing some hair back into place as she enters. It's obvious she's been working, but she smiles in greeting.]

Riona! I'm so glad you could make it! I hope you haven't been waiting long, I'm so sorry, I forgot I had a meeting this afternoon. [she pauses and glances around] though... I'm not sure where Zidane has gotten off to.

[Rinoa remembers not to curtsey, although she's never seen Garnet looking quite so regal. Here, in the castle environment, with no-one else around her, she looks every inch the queen.]

Hey! No, it's okay, I haven't been waiting that long. That dress is amazing...

[She looks around.]

Is Zidane usually late?

[Garnet Glances down, and smooths her skirt] Thank you. It's a bit troublesome at times... but it's expected of me.

[but at the 'late' comment, she blinks, and almost laughs] 'Late' would imply that I could get Zidane to conform to any sort of schedule at all. Usually, he does whatever he wants. It's like trying to bridle a wild chocobo. [she sobers a little, leaning in as if she' confiding some important secret.] Between you and me, I like to keep it that way, within reason. [And then she gives Rinoa her space again]

More likely than not, he hasn't been paying attention to the time of day at all. He could be anywhere. These days though, I seem to find him with Amber. [and she smiles a little at that]

[Indeed, Zidane has been spending papa-daughter time with Amber, after a good romp around the castle walls that Garnet is never going to hear the details of. But a "polite" reminder from one of the guards gets him moving, and he comes down the stairs not long after the girls' conversation begins - dressed not at all like his wife, either, in pretty simple clothes like the ones he wore as an actor-thief. Hey, he's already part monkey, he doesn't have to wear the monkey suit all the time.]

Hey! Sorry I'm late, lost track of time.

[Rinoa grins when Garnet leans in to whisper to her; it's always nice to be confided in. But then... Speak of the devil. She looks around to find Zidane approaching them.]

[She waves.] I thought for a moment you weren't gonna turn up.

[Garnet envies the more casual attire, she really does. She puts her hands on her hips] Just where have you been all day? [But, she's smiling. She's not really mad]

With Amber! [It's the truth! It's just not the whole truth >.> But he still has to pull ridiculous stunts just to see if he can. Also, to make sure his skills haven't gotten rusty, because he's going to need them soon. But for now Zidane hones right in on his wife, pulling her to him by wrapping his arm around her waist and turning his head so he can nuzzle her nose with his. Sappy, goofy, and totally unrepentant about being so in public.] You know, the second-most-beautiful woman in this castle.

[Rinoa clears her throat totally subtly.]

Still here, guys.

[Garnet turns just a bit red, and gently pushes him back with a smile.] Yes, Zidane, we have a guest, you can save the flattery for later. [she's joking, but really, it's rude to ignore someone like that. she looks between Rinoa, and Zidane] You don't mind if I leave you two for a moment, do you? I feel so over-dressed now!
