[Action in Figaro/DELIVERY FOR VANILLE]

Jun 30, 2011 20:47

[Since seeing Alexander, Relm's gained a great appreciation for architecture. Which her actual studies are still in a pitiful state, the servants have been whipering about how much she's been taking great care to examine every corner of Figaro Castle, studying the brickwork and the mechanisms and how it would all fit together when diving ( Read more... )

[Terra is wandering, thinking of maybe seeing if Edgar's working late in his study again, when that banging and scraping get her attention. Confused, she heads toward the noise.]

[The noise stops after a few seconds, replaced by a more familiar straining and grumbling.

A little way down the corridors, Relm is stood, a little beaten and with telltale bruises left from the rushed healing of potions. A bag at her feet is dripping monster blood onto the floor as she tugs at her hat, which is caught on a screw of one of the castle's mobile parts.]

[Terra stops short, her eyes widening.]

Relm?!?

[Caught!]

-uh. My hat got stuck-

[...please don't notice the bag of monster parts.]

[Too late. Terra's gaze drifts downward.]

Relm...what is this all about?

...midnight snacks?

[...complete lie. And significantly more worrying if true. But Relm logic here is that sneaking to the kitchens is less likely to get her in trouble than sneaking out to fight monsters]

[...ew. Terra wrinkles her nose, even as she can't believe that.]

Relm, those things aren't fit to eat and you know it. Why were you really out there?

[Sigh. Busted.]

Blue.

[THIS IS NOT QUITE THE RIDICULOUS NON-ANSWER IT SOUNDS LIKE]

...blue?

[Explain, Relm.]

Blue pigment. It's difficult to get hold of. S'why ol' pervy wears so much blue, 'cause being able to afford that much dye means you gotta be all kindsa rich. Makes him look kingish. You know, s'why they call it 'royal blue'.

[ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE THE SUBJECT.]

[Oh, Terra's wise to these tricks by now.]

Relm...you could have just asked for some. There's no need to run out into the desert in the middle of the night.

I couldn't! They stopped selling it at the market. They said that people aren't going back to the tree all reliable no more an' so after that big ol' angry sandhorse, people don't want to go out to fight monsters in the desert so much. So there's no Alacran tails to grind up to make pigment. There is no blue left in all of Figaro!

And I needed more blue. For something important.

[That last part gets her attention, and her brow furrows.]

For what, exactly?

Uh. To paint blue things?

[Fine, don't tell her. Terra doesn't want to derail from the point that needs to be made, anyway.]

Relm, if you really need that blue...at least let me or someone else come along. It's a lot of risk for one person and there's safety in numbers.

[To be fair, that's pretty much the truth. There is a big plan but it's less awful than her usual big plans. She just wants to paint the places and people that people left behind that portal to cheer them up, like the tent she made for Vanille.]

...sure, I guess. I'll get the guards to tag along next time.

[Really, half her motivation for sneaking out to do this is 'it's a lot of fun']
