In the distance there are ruins of a whole city: derelict skeletons of buildings that have all been long abandoned and fallen into disrepair. [The Tuscon Wastelands are a reminder that she's still here, and that they still need to save the worlds. But she stops from her research when she sees them over the feed.]

The moogle has every right to be afraid of there, though he wouldn't last if the Phantoms still lived there.

[The woman is unfamiliar, though Cecil can't place whether he has yet to remember her, or they haven't spoken before. Regardless, he casts a wary look at his surroundings before he replies.]

Phantoms? Are they a species of monster?

The Phantoms were ghosts of an alien race that crashed down to my world. If one touched you, it would take your spirit and kill you instantly.

[A pause.] The Wasteland is devoid of Phantoms now, but it's still a dangerous place, as you can probably tell.

[Ouch. Cecil has had enough encounters with hostile alien races without adding those to the list.]

Yes... What happened here? Was this army attempting to fight against them?

The Military called it the Phantom Cleansing Mission. They were supposed to theoretically end the 'war' between Phantoms and Humans. As you can see, there were more casualties on our end.

What the military assumed was that they were invaders that could be defeated like any other enemy, not the fact that they were ghosts.

Eventually. A bio-etheric wave in complete opposite to their own was created to stop them. Still, many were... lost.

[A bio-what? He assumes it is something unique to her world, and decides not to ask.]

Your world must have been through a great deal of hardship. I'm sorry.
