[Locke's in town checking out a weapon's shop for the best daggers and boomerangs. Not really satisfied with what he finds, he realizes that he'll take what he can get but if he wants something better he'll have to find it for himself.]
My apologies. [But... didn't thieves hunt treasure, too? Was there really a difference? She ducked her head to hide her confused thought as she slid her daggers back into place at her back.]
Lilisette. [She smiles when she looks back up at him.] A dancer.
In my world dancers are on the front lines of battle, so we learned to defend ourselves. Some prefer to use cesti--hand-to-hand weapons--while others use swords. But daggers are fast and easy to throw. Even my stage routine involved daggers.
And these are a family heirloom. If you decide to hunt them, I'll give you a fair warning--I won't go easy on you.
I learned for my stage routine, but I became addicted to it afterward. I can show you, if you'd like. [It was mostly a joke, but she wouldn't pass up the chance to display her talents.]
But I don't know how to throw a boomerang, so we're even!
[Locke didn't know very many people that could accurately throw a dagger. Shadow could, but he wasn't here.]
We could do that sometime! I just don't understand why everyone always likes to get in so close when it's so much easier to stand farther back and throw.
Many can't accurately judge the balance of a dagger so it's difficult to hit the mark. Plus, it's risky to throw them and have to retrieve from the body of an angry fiend. Still, it's worth it if I can stop them from doing something.
[She nods toward the daggers he bought.] Daggers like those would be harder to handle, but I'd never be able to leave one of mine behind.
[He opens the door to go back out into the town.]

Oh! Hi!

Hello. [She smiles, and then inclines her head toward his weapon of choice.] You also prefer fighting with daggers?
Reply
[He balances it in his hand, unhappy with where it's centered.]
Of course! They're so easy to control.

Where I'm from, a dagger would mean you're... a dancer, a bard, or a thief. With a boomerang I'm going to assume the latter.

I'm no thief. I'm a treasure hunter!
[That small trifle settled, he grins again.]
Locke!

[It's no fun finding treasures you already know is there.]
[He pulls out his newly acquired daggers again.]
These just aren't as nice as the ones I have back home.
What? You know how to throw them?! I can only throw this boomerang.

[He looked back at his daggers.]
I don't like where they center, but I'd rather have a poor one than none at all.

Do you have friends on Gaia?
[She was beginning to ask everyone this, if only because she wanted to become a support for those that didn't.]
