[The feed switches on to a disgruntled looking, white haired girl, in what appears to be Eryut Village. There's moogle chatter peppered in the background, puncuated by the occasional kupo or two. By the sounds of things, he's near done with his explanation, having just handed over the phone ( Read more... )

You're not in Ivalice, but Gaia, miss -- though that particular locale is native to my own Ivalice. You've found yourself among the Viera. I assure you, they're not all so icy in demeanor.

[She's heard of this several times, so mutely, nods, though the fact he comes from another Ivalice makes her pay attention.] It is?

I know of Viera from an Ivalice I went to. ... They didn't live in a wood, though, and were... [She pauses to think of an adjective that won't send them sprinting towards her, blessed by their spirits or not.] ... friendly to other races. Some of my closest friends were Viera.

It sounds as though your Viera are not so self-isolated as ours are. Perhaps your Ivalice is merely further along the timeline? There are people here from the future of Ivalice, as well, and their homeland sounds quite different from my own.

They do seem different, indeed.

Further along in the timeline? [Please wait a moment whilst she contemplates this, Balthier. Fortunately she gets the idea and sees its likelihood fairly quickly.] ... that could be an explanation for it.

It's been the only viable solution concerning the presence of other citizens of Ivalice, as well. Regardless, I trust the moogles filled you in on the current state of things?

Yeah, he did. ... [a sigh.] I may have to apologise to him, mind. I was only half paying attention to some of it, but I think I have it all down.

[He nods once.] The phones are an incredible piece of technology, as well. Any question you may have, you can get an answer via the network one way or another.

Hmm... I did notice. [a small not quite smile, there.] Even if not the one I was seeking. Though, I'll keep it in mind.

What I wouldn't do to replicate this same technology back in Ivalice.

At home, we had things like this. More technology, too.

Really? Fascinating... my own Ivalice has plenty of technology of its own, but nothing like this. Most technology there is powered by steam or manufacted nethicite.

I think this [she points to the phone] must run on something similar to electricity... that's what we had. It was used for many different devices. This... compacts a lot of those things into one, from what I've seen.

Very interesting. I would like to know more about such devices from your Ivalice, when you have the time.

[A nod.] That, I can do.

Though, it's not quite Ivalice. I lived in St. Ivalice... so it's close.

Very curious, for two places to have a similar yet wholly uncommon name.

Indeed. It does make me wonder...

[she trails off for a moment, in thought about the whole thing.] Oh. I'm Ritz, by the way.
