[Seifer's been rather quiet since Irvine swung by and picked him up, a little unsure of how to approach the Hexadragon in the room. It was somewhat daunting, to say the least, to be peacefully recovering from what could qualify as serious trauma when all of a sudden he was transferred to a place where he'd done even worse things and he can't

[His smile fades a bit, and he's thinking back over his earlier conversation with the Loire/Leonhart 'clan'.]
I kinda talked to the Loires, so I know a bit about what it's going to be like. [Raine was impossibly nice, and he's going to do everything he can to turn on the charm and be impossibly nice and sweet and polite back. He sighs, and addresses an interesting aspect to the conversation. Something that's been bothering him for a while, and he isn't sure he'd have the nerve o talk about it otherwise.]
Rin, did you know that Laguna was my hero? [He leans back and stares off into the ceiling] I mean, I was totally obsessed with the guy as a kid. Saw his movie a million times, had random scraps of paraphernalia from anywhere I could get it.
[He bit off a harsh laugh] He was the inspiration for my dream. I wanted to be a knight, and protect people. Like he did in that B-rated movie of his. Even have the gunblade, see? [He toys with Hyperion's handle. The pose, everything was a rip-off. Man, was he pathetic. Another laugh, softer this time.]
Never been shunted off by a hero before. Though I suppose I don't deserve any less. As if the guy being Squall's dad wasn't bad enough. Not that Ice Princess doesn't deserve a family, because Hyne knows he needs the biggest one he can get, and should have every bit of it, but...
Guess I have a few problems of my own to deal with. Heh, it seems kind of shallow, really, to get worked up over something so trivial. And stupid, like, of all things to be hurt by, that one really shouldn't matter.
Doesn't even begin to compare with yours. [Because Seifer is totally not lumping in his parent issues in with his hero-worship, and the very large feeling of being a failure, foremost in that he was powerless to keep an evil Sorceress out of his head, much less prevent her from wreaking havoc. Twice. Nope, none of that is tied into this at all.]

Wow. Did he blow you off? I'm sorry. And don't apologise for being bothered by it. If it matters to you, then it matters. What did they say to you?

Actually. It was okay. I mean, I was acting like a complete star-eyed idiot and still reeling from the fact that he and Squall were related, but he seemed like a pretty nice guy. And, then, when he asks, I have to be an idiot and actually tell him my name. Started to give lame excuses or something and hung up.
[He sits up straight again, and twiddles his hands.]
I totally thought I could handle it.
Actually, I feel kinda bad for the guy. I mean, what, his only fan turns out to be an evil guy who goes crazy at a tap and a call from his Mistress, who just happens to be an even more crazy and evil Sorceress? That's gotta suck.
[He crosses his arms in a 'that's and end to it' sort of way. His smile softens, though, when he thinks of Raine. He's not going to admit that he's a bit jealous, either.]
Mrs. Raine. She was... nice. I mean, by the time I got her call, Leonhart had given me a debrief about what I- what had happened. Still felt a bit off-balance.
She didn't yell at me. [Which, granted, sounds like something trivial, but it means a lot. Just like that whole ridiculous mess with Laguna.] And, uh, she invited me over. To talk about it.
Moms must be awesome to have.

Yeah... I wish mine were here too. Squall has the chance to get to know Raine, which he never would have on our world. I wonder what it would have been like... with my mom.
[She sits up, snapping out of her reverie.]
But anyway! She invited you over, that's great! It means she's willing to make amends and honestly she is a nice person, even if she's kind of a nag. She's a bit strict. You should go talk to her. Then you can clear the air with Laguna too.

[And with that, Seifer snaps back into his normal cocky self, smirk and all.]
It was nice gettin' to talk this out. I'm sorry I couldn't have helped you out further.
[Hey wait a...]
You talked with Raine, too?
[Because he's totally missing the talk with your mother-in-law (of sorts) thing]

It's fine. And yeah, I did. I knew I had to work it out with her, I couldn't just let Squall's parents hate me. We've put it behind us.

[Honestly, he is, even if it is a little bit of a jab at his pride that his ex hooked up with his rival. Still, it makes her happy, and that makes him pretty happy, too. Friends and all.]

Me too. It took some time... But time really does heal. That's why I wish we'd had that time too.

Looks like I cut you short on that, Angel. I know you still need time, but I don't need healin' not between us, anyways.
[A pause]
If you need it, I'll be here for you, Rin. But I'm not holding any grudges about Ultimecia towards you.

Seifer... Thank you. That's really good to know. [Sniff.] I was never sure. But now I'm glad I told you.

S'alright, Angel. I'll be here for you, 'kay? Friends and, y'know, Sorta-fellow evil-Time-Witch-sufferers and all.
[Seifer says the last part in a half-joking way in an effort to make light of the trial so they could face it (in his case, again).]

Right! And so will I. Friends.
