016 - Steiner - Action (for people in Dali)

[Dali is the final stopover in Garnet's tour, with her loyal knight Steiner accompanying her. They've stayed overnight at the inn and now it's time to do a little sightseeing before taking the airship home.]

I did not realise the village had changed so much...

[Garnet's in her dress-downs today, blouse, pants, white mage coat... Not easily recognizable as the queen, and yet it's as the Queen that she's come to look around. The vandalism and prejudice is disheartening, and to an extent, overwhelming. to think her people are capable of such hurtful nonsense...

But while she's here, she does have other, more pleasant things to do. Vivi was supposed to be in the area, and Raine lived there as well... she wonders how she's holding up, since Laguna's disappearance.

She stops to sit for a while, sighing to herself.]

[Steiner stands behind her and folds his arms, ever the faithful guard.]

Your Majesty... you seem troubled.

[She glanced up then, blinking dumbly.] It's this vandalism. I can't believe the people of Alexandria would do such a thing. I had hoped... I had thought that we could all live peacefully together.

[Steiner shakes his head.]

It's because of the Sky People that Alexandria was almost destroyed. You died, Your Majesty. Of course the people are angry on your behalf.

[The door of the tavern flies open and out comes a familiar child, little Slai, the tavernkeeper's dutiful daughter. She takes off running down what makes the only true "road" in the village. Right behind her, Raine comes to the door, hands on her hips looking very stern.]

Slai! Come back here and wait for me! It's not safe out there.

[Garnet looks up from her spot, as Slai runs past. Clearly a Gaia child... Children playing isn't all that odd a thing to see in Dali, but it's the voice of the woman calling after her that catches her attention.

Sure enough, it's who she thought it might be. She looks in Raine's direction, and smiles.]

Don't be too worried... as long as she stays in the village, she should be alright.

[Raine's hand drops to her stomach out of instinct. Since having their house vandalized, she's on edge and it shows. Business in the tavern hasn't dropped off at all, which perplexes her even further. But the sound of the woman's voice is familiar and she breaks into a smile.]

Dagger? Is that you?

[She smiles back, and nods] It's nice to finally meet you in person. I decided to stop through on my way home... [she glances around] I'm sad to see that what I heard about vandalism is true.
