[He answers upon the fourth ring.]

Greeting, Nabaat. I take it that everything is going well.

[His usual jolly tone isn't so jolly today. Being a man on the run is quite stressful after all.]

I suspect there is a manhunt going on now, Lt. Colonel. Do well to keep abreast with the news for me. I've been forced to kill a few men today.

The Regent is calling for your head, Doctor. They want you dead or alive.

[She's pacing, clearly unamused. She's not happy with this situation at all, considering it puts a damper on a lot of their plans.]

Where are you at the moment?

Did he now?

[He cocks his gun since he just got finished reloading it. The Doctor is saving his energy powered rifles for more violent skirmishes, so right now he's wielding his revolver instead.]

That explains why I have so many visitors at the Pinnacle Rocks lately, along with the bloody damn fliers.

[His voice is suddenly stern now.]

I buried Larsa here within this quaint oasis. Nice place, I should invite you here someday to pay your respects to him.

[She clicks her tongue, annoyed. She's not happy about Larsa either. The fact that he died just isn't sitting well with her. Once she finds out who killed him, there will be hell to pay.

She files his location away for future reference, just to make mental note on his whereabouts. No, she's not worried. What.]

I'll come when we have everything worked out and you're not running from these crazed people. [She sighs.]

That is quite kind of you, Nabaat, but you needn't be worried. These fools are grasping for straws by pursuing me.

[Which is true since how could they be so certain that he even knew what Larsa was planning to begin with? For all they know, Cidolfus was merely tricked by the young lord like everyone else were.]

They are seeking a scapegoat for the crimes committed, and unfortunately they have yet to calm their lust for bloodshed. 'Tis a surprise that they haven't set their sights on Goug yet. Lord Larsa didn't build this army of his by himself, you know.

However, tell me; what is happening now other than the manhunt. I am sure they are filtering posts by now. I am working on decoding them as we speak.

Those that went off to Terra have returned, and from what I've heard, they come back without defeating this Garland. Two have died in that battle, one being a l'Cie.

[He can hear a pleased tone in her voice at that, especially considering it was the young girl whom Lightning used as her little puppet to convince the world.] The Sorceress is dead, and the Regent is still alive, sad to say. The Queen of Alexandria is also dead.

A dead l'Cie, huh? Oh well, at least some good came from that pointless endeavor.

[Oh, he can hear that pleased tone within Jihl's voice. It's good to hear her so smug, but unfortunately they are in such a pickle right now.] The death toll keeps rising even without Garland's help! I wonder, do these heroic fools truly fancy themselves as heroes in this tale?

They are quite violent after all. Now about the Alexandrian Queen, it seems I'll be charged with her murder if I'm captured by these knaves.

I'm a scapegoat after all. I am sure I wouldn't get a fair trial at all. Diplomacy is dead, Nabaat. The Gaians wouldn't know diplomacy even if it bit them in the ass, the same goes for most Sky People.

No, they said they've already captured the one who killed the Queen... and she's another sorceress, from what I've heard.

[She moves a piece of hair from her face as she paces. Pacing is making her think.] We'll just have to manipulate the system. If they want a manhunt, so be it. We'll lead them off of your trail. These so-called heroes are no more than children with sticks and magic wands. They call for blood without knowing what's really going on.

[The wheels and gears within Cidolfus' genius mind were already beginning to turn.] Did they? Another sorceress...

Hm! I could always say that she possessed me as well or some such trivial. We'll look into that later.

Aye, leading this merry band of fools away from me is the best plan for now. Have them search for me in Oelivert or perhaps Zanarkand. The fiends there would make short work of them while I return to Narshe,

Send these children on a wild goose chase, and they'll be none the wiser. Until then, I'll be on the run.

Perhaps. But they're using the fact that you've done something like this before as an excuse. Larsa of course was possessed by the witch, but according to them you're just too devious to be manipulated so easily.

[There's a hint of sarcasm in her voice. These so-called heroes were becoming very large nuisances.]

I'm working on keeping Narshe free of these idiots until we can figure out what exactly to do. I'll not have them snooping around here.

Do be careful, will you?

Bah! These petty fools still wave the Empire's accursed flag against me! If they wish to dig up skeletons, then be sure to add that Lord Larsa himself is a child of the Empire as well. In truth, the little lord is the leader of Archadia now for he is brother to deceased Vayne. If I am to be charged with such crimes merely because of my past, then they should charge Larsa as well for being of Solidor blood.

[Honestly, he highly doubts anyone would be brazen enough to speak ill of Larsa or Vayne, so he does challenge them to do so.] Vayne was a hero in this land long before I arrived here. They shan't be so callous or so I hope.

The devious nature they speak of, is merely my loyalty to fair Archadia. I am an Archadian first, Sky Person second. They seem to forget this often in their accusations.

[His tone changes to jubilation now. It seems that dear Jihl is worried about him.]

I shall be well, Lieutenant Colonel. See to it that you will be as well.

Who knows what words they will utter next. Many speak before thinking, remember?

Devious nature or not, this hunt is madness. You're far too smart to be caught.

[Worried, yes. You're one of her few "friends" here. She doesn't need to lose any more allies.]

I'll be well.
