Aug 04, 2010 19:35

[Night has fallen and a small fire flickers in the dark, the only bright thing in a landscape that's utterly black. Terra has no moon and if there are stars, one cannot tell since the sky is shrouded by clouds. Mikoto is sitting cross-legged by the fire, her hands tucked in her lap.

This is a great place to camp, right? It totally is. Let's toast ( Read more... )

[The Warrior of Light is sitting by the fire, taking the time before he goes to sleep to clean his armor, sword, and shield. After being attacked by dragons before the airship even landed, he isn't going to take any chances with his weapons. It takes up most of his attention, but he occasionally spares a glance upward at the others sitting around the campfire.]

[He sat next to Light, his own weapons gone and by his pack. It was a familiar sound, Light cleaning his armor and one he reveled in. It reminded him on the Void and of his friends. It reminded him that no one was alone in this, even if they were in silence.]

[For a while, he continued to work without glancing up. Then after a few moments, he put aside his sword, which he had been cleaning, and looked at the Weapons Specialist sitting next to him.]

Firion.

[He nodded his head to him with a smile.]

Light.

[The Warrior didn't exactly smile, but he nodded in return, and turned more directly toward Firion.]

Did you wish to speak to me?

[He shook his head]

No, I simply enjoy your company, as quiet as it is. [He grins lightly] Must I have a reason to sit with you>

[He looks a bit surprised for a moment. He hadn't considered that there would be much socializing, especially since they were on a mission. Maybe Tidus was right and he doesn't know how to have fun.]

No, of course not. I apologize for implying that.

[There probably would not be, which was why Firion was merely content to sit by Light's side.]

Don't apologize, there is no need for it. How are you faring?

Well enough. The battle with the Silver Dragons was tiring, but I was not injured. After that it was merely travel. I am reminded of our time searching for our crystals.

What of you, Firion?

[And a small pair of feet walked directly up to the very tall man, stopping in front of him and plainly not moving. Refia sized him up with her hands on her hips, eyes narrowing as she tried to detect any sign of the boys she knew in his face - and failed. After that she didn't beat around the bush at all.]

Why are you called Warrior of Light?

[The sound of a person walking up to him gets his attention, but he doesn't stop focusing on cleaning his sword until he hears her speak to him. When she does, he puts aside his sword and the cleaning cloth to look up at Refia standing in front of him with her hands on her hips.]

I am called Warrior of Light because I fight for the light and the Goddess Cosmos, and because I have no other name.

Is there a reason you ask?

Goddess Cosmos? Who... We don't have a goddess we fight for!

[The disbelief is amazing, mostly because none of that makes any sense to her. Refia shakes her head, looking both doubtful and confused.]

And none of us forgot our names! We're the Warriors of Light, my friends and me.

[The Warrior shakes his head as well, just as confused as she is.]

The only answer I can give you is that perhaps Warriors of Light exist in more than one world. I do not know enough of my past to be able to tell you more than that.

It... maybe. This... This is all so confusing.

[And with that and a small pout, Refia folded her legs and plunked down right where she was, looking at the fire.]

I think it's possible that my world's had more than one group of us - we've had Warriors of the Dark, too. But that would be two thousand years in our past... or future. [And she shudders, just a little. It's probably not perceptible.] All of this makes my head hurt.

Then... you suggest that I am from two thousand years in your world's past?

[Just thinking about it is almost enough to make his brain hurt as well.]

Or maybe the future. I'm not sure, I just know the Warriors of the Dark came about a thousand years before we did, when the Light grew too strong and balance had to be restored-

[But she'd never heard much more than that. Doga and Unei had never exactly been forthcoming with information about their past. They still didn't know why their entire world had been covered with water when they'd left the Floating Continent, though they could guess it had something to do with Xande.]

I wish more had survived. Maybe then I could explain it but... I can't, I just don't know enough.

[And it was annoying to have to admit that.]
