[A somewhat mumbled argument can be heard as the audio is accidentally turned on by a bump to the rail of the airship, it's engines also heard. Finally, a more recognizable voice is heard as the device is taken out of the pocket and placed on the table, the owner still not away it's on.]Yes, Minwu, I really did go to the Void. Master Minwu, it is good to hear from you! But who is this Emperor? And may I ask where you are going?

[Since it's Firion's device that was recorded, he will be answering.]

Emperor Mateus was a ruler on my world. He tried to take it over, but we have defeated him.

Minwu and I are heading to Luca.

I see... Could you ask Master Minwu if he is coming to Alexandria soon?

Yes, I can.

[He holds the device away to call for Minwu, asking for him to come outside. A bit of silence ensues before the sound of shuffling clothes and a murmur of "...hm, salty..." before the device is taken. Firion made a questioning sound but did not comment.]

[jet set white mage, get. Between musings of whether or not the potion should be salty or not (Honestly, it's been so long since he's dabbled in alchemy fundamentals..) he's pretty much got the gist of the conversation from being in earshot despite the humming of the airship engines.]

Alexandria? I believe I was last bound for the library of Daguerro to find information of the Iifa tree. However, if Alexandria holds relevance, I am certain I can visit the city in addition.

Captain, you have my apologies for lack of reports back, though I have made some progress. I have spoken with one individual- a man with red attire and ...

[Yes, time to take his own insanity potion. Personally, he can't believe that men with wings are apparently.. in existence, so bottoms up. Refreshing. Yes, and a bit salty. He doesn't even grimace, let alone vomit. The sound of the glass bottle being placed onto a nearby surface interuppts his speech.].. a black wing, like the wing of a crow. I believe his recent experience is rather relevant to your problem ( ... )

A black wing? Do you mean General Sephiroth? I would certainly like to hear of anything that may be relevant!

I'm sorry to say that I did not ask his name. But yes, a black wing- I'm certain of it. It surprised me, I must admit.

He recounted that he had lost something upon his death and revival at the Iifa tree. Something that no man can truly take- his sight, lasting for a period of two months. He spoke of another which had his voice taken from him upon revival.

Captain...
What were the circumstances behind your visit to this tree? Was it the same as theirs?

Yes, I know of the connection to the Tree. I too was defeated and revived there.

[He muses in silence for a moment, before responding.]

Your curse is the same as theirs.
You must understand that this lessens the chance of anyone being able to remove it before it runs its course. But of course I will continue to look for a cure if that is your wish.

I am most grateful for anything that you could do... But I do not understand. Why would this lessen the chance of discovering a cure?

[His voice changes, slightly. While it's not quite changed into anything remotely resembling despair, there's a heavier quality to it. The following is obviously rather... well, significant to him. It brings back memories - and it's apparent that his heart has just got heavier with them.]

White mages, like all other things, have a purpose in this world. It is to reduce suffering, but most believe it is to postpone the inevitable, an incorrect summary based upon mankind's desire to surpass nature. In your case... Your world has made you this way - you have been reborn, and reborn with a reminder.

It's foolish... and arrogant, to think that my power is of significance enough to oppose Gaia's will. The only chance to cure you before the curse wears off is the vague hope that Gaia itself has a cure; to those that would seek it.

...However, there is no need to be disheartened. If there is one; I will find it. I promise you that.

[Steiner has once again been given a lot to think about. There's a pause before he replies slowly.]

I see... Perhaps you are right, Master Minwu. But this surely cannot be Gaia's will. The Iifa Tree is not a product of this world. It is a thing of Terra, created by Garland to filter the souls of Gaia.
