[Lingering behind the scenes for far too long, the King of Damcyan decides to speak finally regarding this latest panic about the I'Cie. Edward wasn't very thrilled in how the public received this message or pleased with how some members of the council seemed to cling to the Lt. Commander's words. Therefore, in an attempt to stir up discussion ( Read more... )

You were not alone in hearing her words, Edward. Nor in trusting them.

I am glad, Lady Nabradia. I had feared I was the only one questioning against what Lt. Commander Nabaat has claimed.

Those people have made no allusions to hostility. Should the day come when they prove themselves violent, then will I believe the Commander's accusation. For now, I see no reason to stand against them, to consider them an enemy.

Let us hope that the L'Cie shan't cause us to heed the Commander's accusations. That girl, the one who calls herself 'Serah' seems so young...

It would trouble me greatly if the counsel must turn their blades against young women as old as her.

It is she, more than the others, to whom I have spoken most often. Her resolve seems to be strong, yet I doubt she could handle a blade herself... in defence, or otherwise.

Although I hesitate to give my trust so easily, I find myself more inclined to lend my ear to Serah, than Nabaat.

[Edward let's out a thoughtful sigh after listening to Ashe's words. The Queen of Dalmasca seemed more incline to believe Serah over the Commander, yet there seemed to be a wave of uncertainty if whether what Serah speaks is true or not.]

This matter truly baffles me. I know naught of who to believe, but that girl cannot be lying.

She looked far too sincere to be lying to us all.

We can only wait, allow time and their actions to confirm or disprove what we have heard so far.

[A thoughtful pause.]

... I, too, saw the sincerity within.

We can merely wait, this all we can do. Between Garland and Kuja, our troubles lie solely upon them as of now.

Knowing their capabilities - if they truly were responsible for the dragon assault - those men are surely the leaders' greatest concern. They will not lose sight of this.

I shan't lose sight of this either, but I hope we shall remain focused upon the trials we face now as a council.

I worry that another attack may happen soon, and if so many more shall die. The people are certainly losing confidence in us as leaders. This could brew bad blood between those of the Crown and the people we serve.

We cannot be railroaded by Nabaat's soundless claims. Not now, at least.
