First Snow

The snowflakes were huge last night: giant, fluffy wisps sailing down from the heavens.

As I walked across the parking lot, trying to get home from the grocery store, I was beside a little girl and her grandmother. The girl was trailing behind tilting her face toward the sky as the old woman pushed the shopping cart towards their car. She had such a look of wonder on her face as she stuck out her tongue to catch the falling snow. Her grandmother paused and looked back at her and smiled. She asked the little girl if she was trying to catch them and when she responded yes, the old woman closed her eyes tilted her own head back and stuck out her tongue.

It was a really touching moment. And it fit the mood of the night perfectly. I felt like a little girl out in the snow and clearly, I wasn't the only one. It's nice when the winter weather here makes people happy. I feel like listening to Christmas music.
