2021: the best and worst of times

Jan 03, 2022 21:43

After nearly four months of limbo and trudging through mud, sustained by comfort food, 2021 was a pretty good year for me. I was able to travel to lovely places both familiar and new, was reunited with friends, and resumed having evenings out. Yet I can't forget that several people I know died or lost loved ones.

The year ended quietly with a pleasant few days in the company of my parents and their garden birds, visiting our favourite places and eating delicious food. Now I'm home, I feel that I should be making plans for the future, but there's still too much uncertainty at the moment. The pandemic has made me feel OK about having the same job and home for years, but if Covid really is becoming less of a threat, this will be a year to sort my life out.

One thing I can do, of course, is stop picking my fingers, and I've made some progress on that front in the last couple of weeks. Now I just need to keep the momentum going.
