Adventures in the North-South

Back. Glad. Wilmington was nice and all, but full of angry statues. There was this really scarily awesome one of a Confederate general facing North and shaking his sword, which was kind of funny because all the houses around him were full of patriotic decorations. It was like the Fourth of July, but in November--this one fence was covered in American flag ribbons. Odd.

Sometimes I wonder if Georgia and Alabama get mad when states pretend to be more Southern than they actually are. I mean, North Carolina is barely in the South at all, but everything is like, "Confederate flag! Let's remember our heritage! We hate those damn Yankees!" Maybe I'll have to ask sometime.
