It's funny how just plain stupid some people can be.
I follow a blog, but I won't name it here, mainly because they point out many of the blatant two timing nature of celebrities. (I'm a little bit of a gossip whore. Only a little). A lot of, "Look at this PETA Spokes-Celeb wearing fur or leather!" which I don't care about, because nestled in between those are sometimes really big stories I feel should be told. They do research, they post their sources, etc.
But today, She called Sarah Jessica Parker a hypocrite because she will be using a PC in the new Sex and the City Movies.
I never watched the show, but I understand a fashion maven may want to look "Cool" with her Mac or whatever, and this would be contradictory to her character, but that's not what threw me.
She says, and I quote,
"Look, I’m a writer and I know lots of other writers. Some of us own PC laptops, but not by choice - either they’re ancient holdovers from college or they were a well-intentioned gift from a non-writer. (I even know a guy who emblazoned his HP’s cover with a white Apple sticker out of shame.) The Mac is the gold standard among the creative crowd and few would be caught dead in Starbucks without one. And no one goes from a Mac to a PC. Period."
So Am I not as creative? Or is my creative work just worth "Less" because I don't use the gold standard? Will Using a $2,000 machine make your writing better?
I understand, they offer a lot of great programs for creative people, I had to use them in college. But I flat out Do Not Like them. Everything felt backwards, things didn't make sense, and was on a whole unappealing to me as a personal choice, and I'm just too set in my ways to relearn a machine for what it's worth.
It is true that everyone I know that have Macs love them, but seriously. Saying I should be ashamed of my choice in computers is like saying I should be ashamed of the car I drive, or the School I went to, or a whole multitude of personal choices I, and others, make everyday. LAME.
