I moved my furniture around today. I went to Lowes and bought a 50 foot coaxial cable, so now my computer setup is in the room which was originally designated as my dining room, which means I've got a lot more space in the big, pretty room called the Living Room. I set up the coffee machine today, bought a refurbished Cuisinart coffee-bean grinder at Job Lot, and then made myself dinner following a Sicilian recipe that made pasta sauce from sardines in the base. I loved it initially, hated it half way through, then became lukewarm. I won't be making this recipe again, and I can't even tell why not. What happened after 10 minutes of eating the unctuous stuff? I fed Georgia wilted leaves of torn mustard greens, sopped with the expensive and elegant marinara, which I almost never do.

Finally, I put up a picture of mom today, from her triumphant win in the early sixties of Miss Teen Chicago. I looked at it very closely, and saw how undeveloped her face was, how tall she was. Very beautiful as she was, it's clear to me that she was also a child in a pageant. I buffed the glass and frame with the wool of my sweater.

This is a beautiful house, but I can hear the wind outside.
