Well, i really didnt get to see too much of Paris. It was rainy the whole time. I made it out to this amazing church on top of a hill, who's name I forget. It really did feel like a holy place. Very moving inside. No photos were permitted and talking was also not allowed, so there was a hushed quality inside this MASSIVE place. Each part of the building looked like it took 10 years to sculpt, or paint. As I travel, I see these amazing buildings and I know that we will never again take the time or effort to make something so handcrafted and grandiose. Ive seen so many amazing things here. I wish I had the energy to write about them all.
Anyhow, after my short two days in Paris I headed to London. The chunnel tickets were too expensive so I booked a flight. It seems odd that traveling by plane would be the cheapest way to go, but tickets were only like 40 bucks, plus 20 more of taxes. Before I caught my flight I ate in the lobby of the airport(which was just 2 gates). So I ate at the little lobby restaurant there and had the BEST omelette ive ever had. It was bacon and cheese. The cheese on top reminded me of Saganaki at a greek restaurant, all brown and bubbling. Mmmm.
The flight was fun and fast, and I arrived at a small airport outside of london and took an hour long train ride to the main metro train terminal. I am SO lucky to be staying at Sharon's apartment here while she's away. Sharon is a friend of my step-mom Julie, and has been AMAZINGLY accomidating. Even leaving me a little fruit plate and some maps and guides at the entryway. I went out for a nice Indian meal last night, and im ready to go exploring today.
I miss not having a hostel to meet people at, but this will force me to go out on my own and see the sights and meet people that way.
I also just finished changing my flight back from Frankfurt to London, so i can just stay here for the duration and not have to worry about getting to Germany just to catch a flight.. Internet is about to go out.. gotta go!
