OJT Day One

Apr 03, 2007 00:44

Here's a boring entry about work.

So, I had on-the-job training today from 1:20 to 9:00PM. Everyone told me that it is pretty intense, crazy, crappy, painful, etc., and it is good to know that I am in the company of honest people. They weren't lying. I hope they aren't lying when they say the job is much easier once OJT is over.

There's quite a lot of information about the teaching method thrown at you on the first day. Then they make you teach parts of lessons right away. Luckily, my branch trainer is an easygoing and supportive guy, and everyone else at Nova is pretty cool, too.

To make a long and boring story short, I felt somewhat overwhelmed at times and lost other times, but in the end, I was told I was doing just fine at this stage. I'm pretty bushed now, but I think I'll be okay for another day. I better be, because I'll have to teach entire 40-minute lessons tomorrow. I don't think it'll be that bad, though.

According to the previous entry, I went to see cherry blossoms in Japan with my host family. According to internet law, pics or it never happened. In order to prove to a panel of internet judges that it indeed happened, I present the following exhibits:

Exhibit A: Sakura blooming on the road to my host family's apartment. The photo shows the path away from the apartment towards wherever.

Exhibit B: Sakura petals that have fallen to the ground.

Exhibit C: The "Sakura Tunnel" in the neighborhood. People are picnicking. My host father is the man furthest to the left.

Exhibit D: A close-up shot of cherry blossoms.

Oh, and after I left my host family, I went to a pub with these two fine gentlemen:
