jastaelf update!
dr_zrfq and I called a few minutes ago to check up on jastaelf. While we were on the phone with her, she received the news that she was being released from the hospital, so she will be home presently to make a status post of her own.
Basically, things were a little less sensational than previously reported. She was not actually thrown from the car (we had wrongly assumed she was driving the van), but she was completely unhurt except for a little tiny bump she found today. The car was not actually wrapped around the tree, it only glanced off it before trying to climb the retaining wall. It may even still be somewhat drivable. And the rest I'll leave to jastaelf to tell, since she'll be home again to do that tonight.
