snow making the city look absolutely beautiful
skating at 1000 de la gauchetiere
native montreal'ers unconscious bilingualism

seeing someone in hockey gear at the grocery store or on the bus
the fact that montreal's downtown is quite compact
and easy to both drive and walk around in
and has metro stops all over
and parking all over
and every block has a completely different feel to it
and how, when you're walking around, you feel like you're in a different world
even if you're not in old montreal
right, old montreal
montreal's casino, even if it did rob me
walking across those islands, while it was -20, with friends from dc
that part of the city where it's kind of old montreal, kind of downtown

the underground city in the summer
the underground city in the winter

finding out how wrong i was
the theatres at the molson forum, even though it's not the molson forum
going to the bell centre, even though i saw the devils lose twice
delivery services for "you know"
seeing an indian food place, a strip-club, a second cup, a bar, and a souvenir shop within spitting distance of each other
the cheesy shirts in souvenir shops - i think i need to buy a few
atm's that ask for francais/english, not english/espagnol
seeing signs in french and seeing them as words, not "french words"
the differences between grocery shopping cultures - namely, you go more often for less stuff
chess games at the hall building
hockey being the sport, not football/baseball
seeing american tourists, especially when they ask me questions
my balcony, even though i am quite afeard of heights
taking baths with the sliding door open so i can hear the city noise but be totally relaxed
the fact that i'm in a city but it's not too smoggy
mcgill's campus
concordia's non-campus
having certain bums recognize me as a cool guy
used bookstores that work together
the fact that canadian tire sells hockey sticks
the fact that some newspaper stands sell montreal canadiens jerseys
how, in canada, auto shops have to give you a quote and can not legally ask for more after that
canadian health insurance
the entire experience
Conclusion? I am really going to miss Montreal.
Before studying abroad, I had one friend who studied abroad who said, "Don't do it because it will only show how much DC sucks." There's some truth to that. Especially because Montreal is such a truly unique, diverse, and... wonderful city.
