are there any stores in montreal where i can buy dry cooking ingredients that aren't packaged?
i'm thinking something along the lines of bulk barn in ontario. they have spices and pasta and gummy bears in bins, you scoop some in to a bag, and it's cheaper than buying an actual package.
shopping: food

GATINEAU
LONGUEUIL
MASCOUCHE
PIERREFONDS
TERREBONNE
VALLEYFIELD
VAUDREUIL-DORION
Montreal is not on that list.
I don't think you will find this in Montreal. I believe that we have a by-law against open bins of food - I remember when health food stores had to stop having them, and either sell things already packaged and weighed, or put them in those tall plexiglas dispensers.

Their sea salt is ridiculous. My BFF did a field trip there for Christmas and got us all sorts of goodies (including natural cocoa) but the sea salt... omg. It's the shit.

You won't find everything (no gummy bears as far as I remember) but they have a nice selection of spices, flours, grains, dried vegetables, soup base etc. If I am not mistaken most of it is organic.
Frigo Vert has certain ingredients in bulk and so does natural store next to Snowdon metro.
