For thick, stylish tights (not sure about the "durable" part), I would recommend Ardene: it's 10$ for 3 pairs, and they have many colors and styles (going from sheer pantyhoses to these thick wool ones you might want for winter)!! Cute and cheap!

Ooh, for that price I don't think that they need be durable!
Thanks!

I haven't sent the invites yet because, precisely, I can't pick a location! (The dozens or so number is totally a guesstimate. Usually most people cancel because of finals... :/ )

Deli Planet in Gare Centrale is tasty, affordable, and has a SUPERMAN motif, so you cannot possibly go wrong.

It's funny, I've passed A THOUSAND TIMES in front of it without ever setting foot in...how are the food and opening hours like?

Really? I've eaten there many times (I worked near Gare Centrale and it was the most convenient spot for company lunches) and I was pretty uniformly disappointed. Maybe I've been ordering the wrong things, but I don't think so...

For a restaurant, look at Bistro Le Paris, at 1812 Ste Catherine West. It's a little bit on the small side, so you'd absolutely 100% need a reservation, and it'd be bumping into the upper end of your budget, but the food is good classic French bistro stuff, and the ambiance is very welcoming.

Note that it closed down for a bit and reopened about a year ago; I haven't been back since then, but reports say that it's still as good as ever.

A backup plan could be 3 Amigos or Carlos & Pepe's; they're both Mexican places, but both are on the accessible side spice-wise (read: not terribly authentic, but still tasty). They're both a bit too loud to be called "cozy", but are definitely affordable and are fun for birthday parties.

Ah, yes, I've eaten there. (But before their renovations last year.) Yeah, somehow I'm not sure how much a group of teenagers will enjoy classic French fare...and yeah, there is the budget consideration. But thanks anyway!

(Watch us end up at one of those two Mexican places. AGAIN.)

Do they actually have seats for 12 people though? I've eaten there loads of time, but it was also more of a middle-of-the-day pick-me-up sorta meal. I shall find out.

Is L'Aromate next to that Irish pub? I think I've been there once, a few years ago...

Thanks for you suggestions!

Yup, I've reserved for a group at Reubens before. Make sure you're calling the one that's near Peel and not the underground one at McGill College. Great food and fast service. Definitely within your price range.

*grins* Don't worry, I've been to both. The one near Peel efinively has better food...and prettier decor. Reubens sandwich + Strawberry cheeseke = instant yay! :D

And the seating format in the underground one does make it hard for group dinners.
