Grammar snob alert

I saw a pretty good video on MTV the other day. I mean, the video wasn't spectacular, but the song was pretty good. It was the new Embrace video. I'd heard of them before, but never heard them. I was impressed with what I heard, and made a mental note to check them out further.

And then the chorus came. I don't remember the exact lyrics, but the line was something like "The sun shines on you and I." I literally cringed and waited to hear it again, to confirm that I had actually heard it correctly the first time. Sure enough, I had, and I cringed again.

Then, yesterday, I learned that Chris Martin (of Coldplay, and Mr. Gwyneth Paltrow fame) wrote the song for them. He's a hell of a songwriter ("A Rush of Blood to the Head" has become a sort-of theme song for me of late), but, still, why Chris? Why?

Oh, and another sign you're living in Sweden is when The Hives are on MTV all the freaking time. When will their fifteen minutes end? Not soon enough, although I can't complain that their songs are too long.
