As if my accident wasn't bad enough, I now have second degree burns on both hands.
I was making stuff for my kids for homecoming week. I was using a hot glue gun because school glue wouldn't dry fast enough for them to wear the gloves I was making for their pep rally skit. Anyhoo, I had just put a big ass glob of it down, and was going to piece the fabric together when I got distracted. I put one hand right in the glob, freaked, and put the other hand in it while trying to get the other hand out. I freaked out and screamed while a couple of my students ran me to the bathroom to put my hands under cold water. A teacher aide that heard me screaming and a senior brought me to the front office. Got my hands in some ice water. It was a bad idea, but when they tried to take my hands out, I screamed louder and they gave up on keeping them out.
My principal took good care of me. She got me into an ambulance (my first ride) and followed it to the hospital. Then she called my mom and sat with me until I was released. She even helped hold me down so I could get a tetanus shot and demerol in my bum. I freak out around needles. Then, she and her husband took me home. Really kick ass woman.
Anyhoo, I have second degree burns along my left thumb, on the bottom of my right index finger, and along the top of my right index and middle fingers. Lots of pain. Need to go back to bed.
