Down dropt the breeze, the sails dropt down,
'Twas sad as sad could be;
And we did speak only to break
The silence of the sea!

-- Samuel Taylor Coleridge, "Rime of the Ancient Mariner"

It's Friday. There's nothing like a weekend approaching after a stressful work week. I shant be a fool and ask, what else can go wrong. It's been one busy week trying to keep fires put out and make sure no new ones start. The software development process here is somewhat problematic. Stuff always seems to pile up in clumps but valiant effort keeps us ahead. Anyway, today had been going pretty good until I had a conversation with someone and it just sort of drifted right into the doldrums. What the heck? How did that come up? Flop! There go the sails. Becalmed. I need a change of perspective today to re-orient my good mood. This looks like a job for Captain Serendipity. Hoist the Anchor of Routine. We must break out the longboats and start rowing for The Unexpected. There is a wind out there somewhere, and if it will not come to me, then the ship must be towed to where her sails can catch it.
