Sneak out early on a Friday afternoon? Would I do that?
Well, it started with an update from upper management informing us that we were all going to get rich. The week-long holiday shutdown starts at the end of next week. Then, in the Friday afternoon doldrums, someone complained about Facebook screwing up her interface again and making things hard to find, and a discussion of social media and its pervasiveness ensued. The gay guy cracked a joke, asking if we had heard of the new gay social media site, (it's called "Buttbook") and the atmosphere of professional decorum has been disintegrating from there. Most of the bosses are gone this afternoon, and when a couple of the engineers conspicuously departed early this afternoon I noted that things were becoming decidedly very Crimson Permanent Assurance around here.
